Well the Christmas season is climbing up fast. Let the worship of Jesus's birthday by buying crap you can't afford so you don't feel like a loser commence.

For my family the holidays are about family. We do the whole Santa thing of course. We try to be modest about presents, no LCD TV's for gifts at my house. We open presents in the morning and then go to a relative for a fun day and dinner with those you don't see on a regular basis. Everyone is usually relaxed at my family Christmas and we drink beer and play board games all day long then fall asleep shortly after turkey dinner lol.

My daughters birthday is Boxing Day which we usually spend bowling or sledding or something fun. We usally take a whole week off through to New Years and just goof around at home and out in the snow with the kids and dogs.

What are the holidays like for your family?

We spend Christmas hopping family to family. We start Christmas Eve with movies and take out at our house with my mom and sisters. Then in the morning my husband, boys and I open gifts. Head to my mother-in-laws for breakfast and presents. For lunch we go to my grandma's house. And dinner is spent at my husband's grandmother's house.

Seems like a lot of hassle, but it really is just fun. We get to see everyone, and it's mostly about eating together and hanging out. While all of our family is religious, it doesn't become a religious holiday. There is generally some drinking and games at the last stop.

My mother is extremely religious, but I do try to make a trip in her direction. We've never gotten along, however I have two younger siblings still at home with her so I try to keep the peace for their sake. My father (although divorced) usually spends the holidays at my moms. My family is a bit spread out otherwise, my older brother and his wife usually spend the days with his wifes family. This year we're spending most of the holiday with my husbands family. They usually go out to a nice dinner every year at a local restaurant. We have a little one due on the 17th of December so hopefully he'll arrive in time for the festives:)
