We co-sleep, but I've never heard of attachment parenting. I think I have an idea of what it is, but not sure.

Margot I have Dr. Sears attachement parenting book which I would be happy to mail to you. We have a 3 year old and he is about as "attached" as they come. I used it a lot when he was a newborn and up until 1 year old but then things just kind of naturally happened and I haven't looked at it since. My take on attachment parenting is being sensitive to your chids needs, and being prompt to respond to them. That being gentle in your parenting and allowing baby to make gradual transitions helps the child grow optimally.

Dr. Sears has some excellent books, including The Baby Book.  I had reviewed several other approaches before my little one arrived, and honestly I just felt that it fit with exactly what I felt I wanted to do with my son.  Even my hubby, who is not swayed easily, is a huge believer in AP.  Good luck in finding a parenting style, whether its AP or something else, just find something that fits with your personality and style intuitively...

I highly recoommend that API site.  It is awesome.  But the short answer that I use is parenting with love, affection and following a mother's instincts.  :)  You can also visit askdrsears.com for information on Dr. Sears and his recent contributions to Attachment parenting.
