Dialoguing about Attachment Parenting

I am a huge believer in attachment parenting (AP). I have just one son (so far!), who turned one on April 7. I see the benefits of AP in how he interacts with me and my hubby as well as the world and people around him.... I know that at least some of you may have several children, including older children, with whom you may have done AP. It would be so helpful to me as a first-timer to have you share with me and with other posters your experiences with AP in rearing your children. What worked? What didn't? Is there anything that you would have done differently in putting AP into practice? I look forward to sharing experiences with you!

Great story. I just caught my 8 month old daughter by her leg as she leapt off of the bed yesterday morning. The benefits of attachment parenting are endless!

I just have to share this experience. My son (almost 14 mos.) toppled over the edge of the bed and fell onto the floor with me right there, fully attentive with no distractions. It happened in a split second without time for me to react. Luckily there was a big pillow on the floor to break his fall. He cried and hugged me as I scooped him up. He held onto me so tight and cried for less than 5 minutes. Then, he broke away and walked over to his toys to play. As I was telling my hubby what happened, I started to break down and cry.... My son walked over to me, threw his arms around me and continued the big hug 'til I stopped crying.... It was amazing that at such a young age, he could recognize that Mommy was sad and needed a hug.... His emotional development is so advanced, and we attribute it to AP.

I'm australian, and i have actually found lots of sites with great info here.
