my husband and i are still co-sleeping with our 6 month old. our 3 and 2 year old girls are in the bedroom next to us and we have an "arms reach" next to the bed. He wants to nurse all night and does not return to sleep. and if he does, he wakes in a few seconds. I feel like a 24 hour drive thru nursing non stop for hours. how can i get him to sleep longer while in our room/bed? im getting about 3/4 ours of sleep per night

I feel your pain! My youngest was an absolute shocking sleeper for the first nine months. Things are very slowly improving.

When my daughter wanted to nurse all night long I fell asleep while she got on with it. If I stayed awake while she nursed I would never sleep! I used pillows around my body (not hers to avoid suffocation) to keep me in the best position while I slept. I would wedge a pillow behind my back so I would be on a 45 degree angle. My daughter would also sleep on her side and whenever she fell asleep she would either stay like that, roll onto her back or roll over to her other side.

Another thing I did was my daughter and I moved out of the family bed. This is a personal decision and it works for us (hubby has to set his alarm early for work and he makes a fair bit of noise in the bathroom at 5:30am). I sleep in my daughter's room on a double bed with the cot up against one side, the other side and head of the bed against walls and a bed barrier at the foot of the bed. Our daughter likes to climb during the night! We have much more room this way and our family is happy.

Co-sleeping (so I've found) is about creating a bed sharing experience where everyone is happy and everyone is sleeping. Good luck, I'm sending positive sleeping vibes to you!!
