I'm about 5'2", and my 21 month old is about 25lbs now. I love my Moby Wrap, and it's always been easy on my back to carry him in it. You might want to look in to the Ergo, since it goes up to about 45lbs, and your little on seems to be growing like a weed already! :)

Cecily, welcome to our group! There are definitely carriers that help to evenly distribute the weight of the baby or toddler to take pressure off of the back. There is a "flagged" discussion at the beginning of the conversations where moms have weighed in on sling or carrier recommendations - you should read through those. The ones that I have been looking at are the Mai Tei and the Ergo. There are websites for each if you Googled them. Hopefully you can find one that is comfortable for you.

Just try different types of slings and see what feels best for you. I'm also 5 feet tall & slim but have always carried my babies in slings - different ones for different ages. My babies have all been big - starting life at 10lb 6oz down to my smallest at 8lb 14oz & all stayed big, you just get used to their weight. I favour the Hug-A-Bub until they complain & want to face out then I move on to the Maya Wrap ring sling, I'm thinking of giving an Ergo a go now as my youngest is 11mths & i think I need to wear him on my back if it's going to be for extended periods.
