We are thinking about naming our son Roman, but I'm not sure I totally like the name. Whats everyone elses opinion and if you don't like it can you give some suggestions? we like unique and different names, others we've picked out but crossed off were deesel, gage, and blaine

The right sounding name depends on your last name. There were names that we loved, but when we paired it with our last name, we did not like it.

With that said, I have a friend who named her son Roman. That is a cool name. Its true that people are coming up with more unique names every day. I met a mom whose name was Stone... I thought that was cool.

Its so hard to recommend names... I agonized over naming our children. I would just see how you feel as your pregnancy progresses... There may be a name that just strikes you and sticks... Good luck!

The idea of being 'unique' and 'different' is so common now that I know kids named all of those names! ;) kind of hilariously ironic.

I'm no help picking out unique names- i'm a fan of classic names myself. In my personal opinion, naming your child something unique won't make them unique- they are unique already :D

However, the truly unique ones (names, lol) i come across (and I know some dooseys) aren't even really names- they are more like sounds their parents came up with. And these ARE really unique.

Some other things are just purposefully misspelling names to make them different. For example, one woman named their boy baby Massia-uh. Really. It's truly up to the parent what to name their child and how to spell it.

Of your selections, I think my favorite is Gage. I also like Rowan, for example, more than Roman (that makes me think of the empire, history, etc lol). Or Ronan. But then, those are old school irish names, even though they aren't particularly popular at the moment. Again, I guess I'm not a help!

Is this your first? I also like to think of what other names I like if they would go together (we want a lot). So for me, If I liked Gage and Deesel- I wouldn't be able to keep them both in good conscience. Unless our last name was Gear or Carr or something like that. I couldn't name my first son Tucker because I would want to call him Tuck and our last name is Finn and I simply COULD NOT DO IT ;) hahaha.
