I am expectiing my first child and would value any advice on how to manage a stressful legal career with children. I am a bit overwhelmed. Any tips on work loads, time management, child care or otherwise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Get good, trustworthy child care!!! If I hadn't lucked in the a terrific provider (loving, 200% reliable, and n ot tied to the clock) I would have lost my mind. Be prepared to say "no". I was a sole practitioner and found that I had to turn down work, at the risk of becoming overwhelmed, and be a little more firm with judges, at times putting family needs ahead of the courts schedule. Multi-task. You can breastfeed AND work on the computer, read the advance sheets while you make baby food, think through an issue while you rock the baby to sleep.

You can do this!
