So, Cameron has always been a picky eater but we've always been able to get him to eat veggies in some form. For the last week he will not touch them. Doesn't matter what we do, he refuses to touch them....cooked or raw! He is actually sitting at the table right now refusing to eat them. I have tried taking things away, rewards, and now making him sit at the table until he's done. Nothing works. Any advise? At this point, anything will help.

My son is also a picky eater. Sometimes I think he would go all day without eating if I didn't make him, but he loves fruits and raw veggies. So I take him to the farmer's market and most of them are nice and let him try a piece before we buy anything and not every time, but sometimes I'll give him some ranch dressing or something to dip his veggies and he likes that. I've noticed at this age my son is getting a bit of an attitude and testing the waters as to what he can get away with so, hopefully this is just a phase your son is going through and hopefully, for you, it'll end soon. Kids are the biggest challenges we'll always accept. lol

I'm in the same boat as you. Hayley, my daughter, hasn't liked vegetables since she stopped eating baby food. I have tried everything you have. I'm still stumped as to how to get her to eat them. One that has seem to work lately though is giving her a bite of veggies with fruit on the end of the fork so that it tastes like the fruit and not the veggie. This doesn't work all the time but seems to be helping a little.

I also recommend 'Deceptivly Delicious" by Jessica Seinfeld (www.deceptivelydelicious.com) as a way to 'sneek' in extra nutrients and foods your child wouldn't eat normally. The chocolate chip cookie recipe is delicious, btw...

I sometimes hide the veggies in casseroles, spaghetti, etc. For example, I will mash cooked carrot or sweet potato to put in a spaghetti sauce and they are still getting the wholesome nutrients without even realizing it. I will also add wheat germ or natural bran to these meals as well for extra fibre.

I also make desserts with veggies hidden in them such as carrot drop or sweet potato drop cookies, zucchini bread, etc..

Good luck with it.

a few tricks I've tried:

My kids (4.5 years old) love to help cook. I let them try everything that is safe while I'm cooking. I slip them pieces of raw veggies to tell me if they're good enough to put in the meal. They love to taste the food before dinner and before it's all cooked.

Another trick is to make bread and put lots of veggies in it. You can use a banana bread recipe and put ground carrots, zucchini, etc in place of the 2 cups of banana. My kids LOVE their veggie bread!

V8 fusion is a favorite drink in our house and each cup has a full serving of fruits and vegetables in it.

try mixing them in things where he cant see them. I think all kids go through that stage. It will be ok. If he will eat fruits get him to eat those so he is getting some of the minerals he needs. Is he on any vitamins and if so which kind because believe it or not vitamins over the counter even the expensive ones are not soluable in our system. It gets to small intestines and crystalizes causing free radicals that actually and up taking all the minerals and vitamins we are getting from our veggies leaving us with very little. This is why we are so sick all the time. It lowers our immunes and feeds off what energy we have. I take vitamins that have oligo in them so they are 10x more soluable then anything else and you can only find them at one store I know of. Each time a crop is harvested a little more minerals is taken from the soil so the next time they harvest it leaves a little less minerals available. This is why we dont get right nutrition. Anyway I wouldnt worry so much about your son not eating veggies right now. You can also go get those pedisure drinks which do have a good bit of the nutrition hell need. Let me know if I can help in any other way. Sorry to talk your ear off I work for an all natural company and they teach us all these things. The vitamins are a big sellor and they helped me tremendously

BEEN THERE!!! Yeah, it's maddening. Our son never met a fruit or veggie (except avacadoes) he didn't like then one day, literally, he just out of the blue refused to eat all fruits & veggie's. We tried every suggestion out there...nothing worked. NOTHING! His doctor told us it was a "phase" and only last a month or so..

Ours is a strong-willed little guy and this went on for a year!! Maddening and I was so worried about him not getting the essential nutrients from fruits & veggies so I supplemented with vitamins from the health food store that has all the nurtients from green veggies, gave him Naked Juice Smoothies, hid smashed up green beans in spaghetti sauce (the hubby didn't even notice), hid veggies in anything I could because nothing could get him to eat them! Then this past month, just like it started , he just one day out of the blue, began eating them again all on his own. He even eats a little salad at dinner. I don't know???

I wish there was something I could suggest that I had success with. I just kept putting them on his plate knowing he wouldn't touch them. But there is a stead fast rule...no dessert or treats through out the day until he ate some fruit or veggie's (he seemed fine with that). Granted, he DID eat the occasional fruit or veggie here and there during that time but not consistantly. And when mine wants mustard on his cooked carrots (gross) or his broccoli drowning in cheese sauce....I let him do it..anything so he will eat them.
Good luck....I so know what your going through! To put you at ease...my son stayed "healthy as a horse" during this anti-fruit & veggie scenario. I don't see how but he did. I know i sure can't stay "healthy" without fruits and veggies LOL! Oh And don't stress yourself too much...I know I did...stress all the time about it and it didn't do any of us any good :-)
