bad diaper rash that is spreading

Thanks for all the advice! I ended up using A and D ointment on his boy parts and vaseline on the other parts of the rash and also bathed him with baking soda. It seemed to help alot. most of the rash is gone now. Now he is getting a fever and a little cold.... If theres a bug out there to be had, our house gets it :(

Our pediatrician told us to use Lotrimin AF (on the foot care aisle) twice a day and cover it with a thick diaper cream. If that does not work, we were also given a prescription diaper rash cream called Vusion. They also said we would use something like Neosporin three times a day under a diaper cream to help with healing. The lotrimin is because apparently there is yeast and that takes care of it. I would try straight corn starch. I use it on my little girl all the time and it works wonderful. Then your not hurting it more by rubbing on creams. If that doesn't work, let him go without his diaper for a bit. The air will help to dry it up.

i swear by egg white, it was told about it by my partners nan and thought it was just another old wives tale, but after trying everything i could buy when my daughter was teething i tried egg white, within 2 days it was virtually completely cleared up, so when my son was born in aug 07 it is al i have used on him. Put some egg white in a small pot and store it in the fridge it keeps for ages, all you do is lather it on with cotton wool and wait to for it to dry, it did make my little boy pee the first couple of times i used it on him but if you have a nappy under his bum ready you can use it to stop it makeng a mess. honestly it works try it, its amazing how quickly you u c the results, just do it each tme you change his bum i have never needed to use it for more than 4 days.

I mentioned your situation to my husband, and told him about my reply.  He reminded me that our little one was prescribed a hydrocortizone cream to relieve the itching, but again, aside from that cream, she went dry and never looked back . :)

I'm glad to say that my little one never had quite that much mess for me to wake up to, but there was a time where it seemed that no matter what we put on her, her rash never seemed to get better. We finally tried to just let it breathe, and stopped using creams and lotions altogether, and that's stopped any rash from returning. We just had to make a point of changing her every 2-3 hours, or whenever we noticed she needed changing, and right before bed and as soon as she woke up.

I always use a mixture of 40%zinc oxide(desitin) and petroleum base(a&d or I use Bag Balm) and third triple antibiotic ointment plus pain relief this help diaper rash   go away fast. He may need a couple of days of oatmeal baths to help also.  My daughter has been having the bug and diarrhea and I know what you are going through.  I try to keep onsies on her and sleepers. help it stay contained and nothing tight fitting.  Good diapers also are a must, we use generic and i must say wal-mart white clouds are the best generic I have found. hope this helps
