My daughter is 15 months and teething I give her motrin almost everynight before bed and rub numbing stuff on her gums and teeth and yet she is still up more than 4 times a night some nights is there anything else I can do. She is also not eating well I assume that goes with teething?

Hi! I wanted to comment about Tylenol and Motrin. Sorry this is not really related to the teathing part....When I went to the ER with my son for a nasty burn on his hand, the ER doctors stated that Tylenol and Motrin can be given at the same time becuase they are different medications, so taking both will not result in an overdose. At the ER, they gave him a dose of Motrin eventhough he had a dose of tylenol less than a half hour before that at home. I am not a doctor, so please check with your doctor if you plan to do anything like that.

When my other son had a stubborn high fever, they told me to alternate tylenol and motrin ... every 3 hrs (I think)

Additional note about Motrin: My 15 month old had a VERY high fever last week (104.4 - that's very high in my book!) The DR told me to be careful about Motrin because using it more than a few days in a row can lead to problems including stomach-upset. So that leads me to wonder... are your babies waking up through the night and not eating because of the teething or is the Motrin upseting her tummy? Just a thought...

The changes in eating are part of the independence stage and the teething.

Have you tried the teething tablets- I haven't used them but my sister in law swears by them. Ten you aren't giving motrin all the time- I do it too! If she is stuffy, try putting a pillow or blanket under one end of her bed so it is raised.

Hey, Jennifer! I have twin 15 mo olds and they have a mouthful of teeth already! However, one of my sons has a lower pain threshold than the other and sometimes I have to dose him differently...Please check with your doc to make sure this is ok, but I, especially at night, will put Harrison down with a dose of TYLENOL and then 2 hrs later (or more) when I go to bed, I'll give him MOTRIN. This really seems to work for him. Like I said, you might want to run it by her Ped., because I can't remember if my Ped. friend told me this is ok, or if I do it b/c it's ok for adults to do this! Also, be sure to dose her according to her weight...this is very imp to be sure the med is effective. You can ask her Ped what the dose should be for her weight...sometimes the packages don't list it for as little as our babies are. I hope this isn't too much rambling and will help! : )

You should give her Humphrey's #3. You can buy it at any farmacy.
