My son has been off the bottle since he was 10 months old except for his night feeding. He turned one on the 9th and his apt is tomorrow and I know we will be switching to reg milk now.I was wondering if anyone has any tips for taking out the night time bottle and switching to milk? Thanks!!

My daughter is 13th months now and has been on whole milk since she turned 1, Aug 6th and she has been only on her sippy cup for about 2 weeks. I put this in another thread, but I will put it here as well.

The way that worked for us to switch her to the sippy was by giving it to her at the times she would drink a bottle. She does not drink as much from the sippy, but that is normal. To start out, we held her just like we were giving her a bottle. She just started taking it from us, and now she drinks it on the floor. We introduced the idea of a sippy she was 4 months, but she didn't start really trying to use it until she was about 9 months. We only give milk or water in the sippy.

So how about the breastfeeding moms, any luck with cow milk? My son hates cow milk and makes an awful face when he tries it.

My son took his night time bottle, with a snack, about an hour before he went to bed. I just replaced it with his sippy and some whole milk. He didn't seem to mind, and I think the snacks help. If your baby isn't liking the whole milk too much, add a little pediasure to it. They have all kinds of flavors, and it is full of nutrients.

I have just finished switching our little girl over to regular milk. Being a mum over 40, I am pretty old school too, and did the mix thing. I started out with a 75/25% mix. 75% formula/25% regular milk. She was on that mix for a few days, and then I put it up to 50/50 for about a week and a half. Once she was taking that ok, no signs of reaction, I put her up to 25/75%. 25 formula/75 regular. She was on that until she finished off the last of the tin of formula. Now she is on regular milk 100%. At the moment, I have been flavouring it with a touch of milo, to disguise the taste a little. I found she was not drinking it unless I did, but am nearly done with that. She is doing just fine. It took time, but there was less danger of refusal doing it slowly. Hope this helps a little. My little girl will be one on the 21st August.

I am switching my son over to milk right now. We are slowly switching him over. My mother-in-law taught me how to do the switch over (she is a bit old school...nothing wrong with that) He was drinking 6 oz., so we would do 2 oz. of milk then 4 oz. formula for 2 days, then 3 oz. of milk and 3 oz. of formula for 2 days, then 2 oz. milk and 4 oz. of formula for 2 days. This took a bit of time but then it is not too much of a change on his little tummy. Hope that helps!
