baby food vs table food

So my 8 month old has been on gerber baby food since 4 months. My dr recommended that we start that early because he was a little under weight. Anyways, he has started to get curious about table food, so we started to give him little bits and pieces, but now he wants nothing to do with baby food. The problem I am having is that it was so much easier to give him baby food than prepare the table food small enough and making sure that he got enough. Does anyone out there think that this is ok? Or should I be worried about getting him to eat more table food? It now seems as though he just wants a taste of either and will not fill up on anything but breast milk... what should I do?

The only things that are right off limits are honey, egg whites, and nuts. Try to keep it simple-easy on the salt, sugar, fat, etc. I feed our little one the same things the rest of us are eating. Diane: start mixing things she likes with other foods to slowly expand her tastes. It sometimes can take 10+ tries before a new food is accepted so don't give up too quickly. Also, try experimenting with textures. She is old enough to chew bits of food and she may prefer to feed herself. Believe me, you want to try to get her to eat a wide variety now (even things you don't like!) or you will have a picky eater on your hands. Keep on trying.

My girl is 8 months on the 28th of April. She only eats purity butternut or carrot. She doesn't want to eat any home cooked food or any other veggie or meat purity. She's keen on any fruits though. Any help on that would be apretiated.

Oh geeze...I dunno about that! The only thing we watch with our son is salt intake because he has a heart defect! I know they aren't supposed to have honey until they're a year old. Or eggs (they can have the yolk, but not the white) until a year because so many kids have egg allergies. We tried Oliver eating the whole egg and he did just fine with it, so he gets all the goodies!

my next question would be, what table food is not ok for him to eat?

We feed our son table food! The only baby food he'll eat is prunes, which is something I find quite odd! I don't see anything wrong with it!

He is going to like table food more than baby food. It tastes better! My little one is 8 mos and she will take some baby food but she prefers table food most of the time. What I do is put some meat, veggies, and starch (pasta, potatoes, rice, etc.) in the food processer and chop it until it is a little chunky. You always end up making more than you need for that one meal so freeze the leftovers in ice cube trays so you have some when the grown ups are eating something not so baby friendly. Remember one thing...It is your job to decide when and what he eats but it is his decision to eat or not. That is very hard to do sometimes, I know. Keep offering him food and he will slowly eat more and more solids. Relax, you're doing fine.
