Just wondering if any August 2008 babies have started to roll over, smile & giggle, use a Johnny Jump Up or any other bouncy toys and other turning points in their development :)

Bella has started to do all of the things above and though it would be cute to share some stories about giggles or jumping or anything :)

Its brilliant reading everyone elses mile stones. These infants are truely amazing. I guess we just have to remind ourselves that they all do things at different times and to enjoy what they can do. My wee one 18/08 chuckles and smiles lots, she rolls to the side, but not over and loves being on her back, taking a lot of time investigating all the little details of her toys. She loves her cereal with puree fruit and I can't feed her quick enough!!! She amazes me eveyday with her contented ways, rarely crying and her ablity to make me realise how lucky I am to have a perfect treasure. x

Brodee discovered he feet last week, and they are her new favorite toy. She loves to bring her foot up to her face and suck her big toes....they are even more popular than the fingers! It makes diaper changing time easy, she holds her legs up the whole time! She is also trying to crawl when she rolls onto her tummy, she can get her legs folded up under her, just needs to figure out the arm part of it. It is absolutely unbeleiveabe how fast she is growing! Every day there is something new. Yesterday I was singing a song with her on my lap, and she "sang" along. It was the sweetest thing I have ever heard!!

My son also has a Tigger jolly jumper. We first put him in it when he was about a month old and just rested his chin on the front, and now he actually uses his legs! Can't jump very high in it, but still makes an effort.
He also used to HATE tummy time, but now he loves it. He can roll from back to tummy, and tummy to back again! I love watching that. He's ALWAYS got spit bubbles, and he sticks his tongue out a lot, then laughs when we do it back! He squeals when he gets excited, kicks his legs a LOT, and when we put his wrist rattles on him, he continuously flails his arms.

When my son was about a month old we layed him on a flat small pillow (nothing he could smother himself in) on the floor and went outside for a smoke. He was fast asleep when we left the room, but when we came back in about 10 minutes later he was wide awake and about a foot and a half away from the pillow and laying there just smiling! It was adorable. About a week or so later it was time for his 6 week check up and when his pediatrician layed him on the bed to check him out, my son rolled from one end to the other. That was also cute, but sad at the same time, because my baby wasn't happy!
I just took a video of my baby yesterday when I got home from work, he was making the weirdest noises. Cooing and laughing, smiling, using a very unusually high-pitched noise going "Hooo" over and over again. I couldn't stop laughing.
The best part of all of this, my baby is ALWAYS happy. He hardly ever cries, just whines a little when he's hungry or teething or wet! I LOVE being a mother!

I think Isabella is realizing she has these things called "feet." she keeps looking at them and trying to reach for them LOL

Chloë starting rolling over at 3 months and she loves to smile and giggle! We have not tried a Johnny Jump Up yet, but we do the exersaucer and she loves that! She does all right in a Bumbo for a little bit as well!

Colin giggles and laughes out loud. He is starting to roll over but still needs little assistance, he grabs his toes, he tries to pull his knees under his belly when he lays on his tummy and loves to pull himself up to sit, but he is not supposed to stay in a seating position unless he is able to sit up on his own..it frustrates him to go back down...do not have a Johnny Jump, yet, as my pedriatician and my midwife said it is not good for his spine unless he can sit on his own...

My son Cian was born on the 25th. He's teething, and though I can see the teeth through the gums they haven't erupted yet. He's been smiling for a long time, and the best thing is he never only half smiles. He gives me the biggest gum showing, eye squinting, dimpled smile he can manage. I've gotten him to giggle a few times. He is almost rolling over from back to front. I don't have a jumper for him, but I want to get one, because he can support all of his weight on his legs. He stands by himself as long as I balance him. He babbles constantly, and loves making daddy be the one to get the dirty diaper.

I have a rainforest bounceroo...my bigger girl,Cameron, loves it, unfortunately, Jordan is two pounds smaller...can't quite reach the floor yet, but I think she'll love it when she can!!

My son definitely starting to teeth too.... When he gives us a big gummy smile you can see the two little bumps where those first bottom teeth come through! He prefers his own hand to anything else as well.

Just one question though.... What's a nookie???

Hi Jen,

My son Jack has been smiling for a while now and laughing, and talking (although what he's saying we're not too sure yet!!) and recently began this screeching where he sounds like a cockatoo!! Hilarious! Also very much into his toys with obvious favourites, and it's the most beautiful thing to see his face light up when his daddy gets home from work everyday - he misses him!!

Jack's been rolling from front to back for a while now, and on the verge of back to front cheeky boy, but the newest in his bag of tricks is the funny backwards shuffle-crawl he does!! I popped him on his tummy on his playmat to turn around 5 mins later to see him nearly a meter away from it! Gotta be careful cos he sleeps on his tummy and I keep finding him with both chubby legs hanging out the end bars of his cot!

he has a Jolly Jumper that he likes being in but hasn't quite figured out how to bounce himself yet - matter of days away....

I also have a Bumbo chair and it is great. It helps to strengthen their back muscles to help them sit on their own. Adriana likes to sit in it too. She likes to put her arm over the side. She looks like a little lady when she does that!

My daughter Madison also tries to rool over but she always finds something to take her mond off the roll. She smiles and laughes all the time she thinks her daddy is funny with his funny voices. I brought Madison a exersaucer and I love it, she loves to make the duck sing and moves the balls from one side to another. Im not sure if anyone has heard of the Bumbo chair but if you have ever wondered about it, the chair is amazing. She is sitting in right now watching me type this note, it keeps her near me which is what she likes but I don't have to hold her all the time.

Hi, Star has always been smiley and giggly, since she was 10 weeks old, she is now 21 weeks, she hasnt rolled over yet, I think shes more intent on standing first before crawling and rolling! We got her a jumperoo for Xmas and put a cushion under her feet, and she jumps so high in it while laughing and shrieking loudly, she loves it!

My son rolls very little on occassion. He has got into the habit of just turning his head almost all the way around. He does stand with assistance and can sit by himself if you put his legs just right. He also plays in a jumper and is able to touch the floor. He just LOVES it! He had his 4 month appointment and he is 16 lbs and 25.75 inches long. I have a little porker :)

My daughter, Gabrielle, was born August 4th. She rolls over both ways, smiles, laughs, plays in her exersaucer and now can sit up on her own. She is also starting to play shy. She is my first baby and I love her more than i can express! my favorite story of her so far is checking on her one morning and finding her sleeping in her crib on her belly with her legs through the slats and sucking her thumb. soooo cute!!!

No rolling over here, but lots of wiggling and going backwards on the floor, loves her jumperoo, favourite person is her nearly 3 year old brother who has taught her how to blow wet and sloppy raspberries. Talks a lot and stares at you intently when you talk to her and tries to copy (I swear she says hello when you say it to her!) and thinks the funniest thing in the world is when we say her full name... hope she likes it that much when she grows up!!

Jackson started rolling over when he was only 4 weeks old... gave up on the back to sleep thing becasue of it... he has been using his jumperoo since he was 3 months.. his feet hit the floor then, and has already pretty much out grown his swing since he pulls himself forward and I am paranoid he will dump himself out of it. He full out laughs over random things.... and is super ticklish!! He eats solids... twice a day. Once around 930 am.. fruit and oatmeal, and the second one is around 7pm.. veggies with rice, and he LOVES his food. Still nurses about 6 times a day too... right now he has a cold, so he is sleeping a lot... but I figure in a week or so he'll be back to his usual screeching happy self!

Maia was born on 8/14. She talks (babbles) a LOT, she smiles and laughs. She rolls over from back to tummy (only once the other way). She loves tummy time, and will kick her arms and legs like she is swimming. She'll also push herself backward, or around in a circle. She loves her exersaucer, and will turn herself, and jump and talk to the toys. She loves to play airplane games (lifting her up over our head, or laying on our arms with her arms and legs free to kick), and loves to bounce on our knees.

We don't plan on starting solids until about 6 months.

Lilliom has been smiling for quite a while. She started giggling just recently and especially loves it when my father talks like a pirate.... She can roll over from her back to her side, but she gets stuck there and gets frustrated. She did, however, have to spend two months on her back because of her heart surgery, so I'm not terribly concerned that she's not accomplished every milestone. She really enjoys standing up and we're pretty sure she'll walk before she begins to crawl. She's also teething pretty hardcore and was going to start solids a month ago with her doctor's permission, but the appointment was canceled, so we're hoping to start this month.

Jayden rolled over from his belly to his back for the first time during christmas. his new thing also is when we have him on the floor with is side towards the tv he will wiggle his self around so that he can watch the tv better. he laughs alot. his favorite is when you eat his belly while tickling his sides. at night he will have sword fights (little plastic lamps from his disney castle) with his daddy. way too cute. he can just about sit up. he leans forward with his hands on the ground... i just so love the laughs

My daughter Emma started rolling over a few weeks ago- she rolls from her back to her belly, but won't go the other way. She laughs big belly laughs and is really into feeling different textures. She does this high pitched gasping sound that she learned from my son when he was playing with her. It's probably annoying to other people, but we think it's cute:) She loves standing on laps and sitting in her Bumbo. You can see the faint line of a tooth under her gum, so she's chewing on everything and slobbering all over the place. We've recently started cereal and she loves it, even though most of it ends up anywhere but her mouth!

My daughter Brodee started rolling over when she was 3 months old, it took a while to get over at first, but now at 4 months it is just one smooth motion to roll over onto her belly, she still is not too good at going onto her back. She has a very strong neck, and likes to lie on her tummy and look around. She smiles and laughs, and has recently starting squealing for fun. We out her in a jolly jumper at Christmas and she absolutely loves it!

Brodee has also virtually stopped using her pacifier, she used to suck on it all the time, and now she just pulls it out of her mouth and tosses it aside, it's kind of cute, but she seems to always have her hands in her mouth now. Even when I try to nurse, she will try to stick her hand in her mouth. Not sure what to do about that, it is really annoying.

Adriana gets primarily breast milk, but formula once in a while too. She gets 5 ounces, and eats every 2-3 hours. She has been sleeping through the night since early November. During the day though, she never goes 4 hours between feedings. I am wondering if I should be giving her more than 5 ounces now that she has turned 4 months? Also, she gets upset when we burp her b/c she doesn't want us to take her bottle away. I think it is kind of funny.

Grayson started rolling from side to side about a month ago, and over Christmas mastered rolling all the way over. he smiles and giggles, and he tries really hard to sit up but doesn't have the balance right. we don't have a jump toy for him but it looks like it might be a good investment given the other responses here... we did get a walker for Christmas and he can just barely touch the floor, and he pushes himself around but doesn't understand what he is doing. he's also on the early side of teething and prefers his fingers to anything else, though we just started putting the teethers in the fridge and he's interested. he was born Aug 12 and already he's 30" long and 22 lbs (momma is 5'10 and poppa is 6'4).

My Alex, born on 8-24, is starting to like his jumperoo more and more. His feet touch the floor now, and while he hasn't learned to actually jump, he likes to wiggle! I believe he is teething as well.....I have never seen that much drool and he chews on anything that comes anywhere near his mouth. He has a bouncy chair he likes with toys that dangle in front of them, and he yells at them because he can't get them into his mouth. It's funny to watch him try to pull himself towards them hoping that just maybe he will be successful this time! He is a big talker and giggler! He loves to be tickled. It's the funniest thing! He hasn't rolled over yet, but it's just that he's so pre-occupied with his fingers that he is content with that. He is a wiggly kid though! There have been many times I've gone in to get him in the morning, and he has completely turned himself around so his feet are where is head was when I put him to bed! He will eat rice cereal but he doesn't really like it. We tired sweet pootatoes last night and he was having NONE of that!

My little girl too. She also likes her fingers and toys over her nookie. She'll put just about anything in her little mouth, it's too funny! I can also feel the bumps in her gums and the doctor said soon enough those will be teeth :) Also on a side note but kinda funny; she poops for my husband 90% of the time LOL It seems I rarely get to change a poopy diaper but I always get the pee-pee ones, I'm sure it's just how timing has been but it's still kinda cute to say she only poops for Daddy

My son giggles when I kiss his tummy but only sometimes. He has started squealing though when he gets really excited, usually when I'm taking him out of his crib :) He also rolls over from his back to his tummy but has a hard time getting back and then gets really frustrated. He loves his feet and hands and will spend forever just staring at them as he flexes them and spreads them out. He loves to coo and gurgle and just learned how to make spit bubbles so his face is always covered with drool, lol. He has a jumperoo but I don't know what a Johnny Jump Up is.....His sister is 21 months and she always wants to get in the jumperoo too but she has to content herself with "helping" her brother play with it.

She did it several times for a few days and now has not done it since although she gets on her side alot and wiggles around quite a bit. We got a jumperoo for her over a month ago when she was about 3 1/2 months old. She liked it but now loves it! She jumps like crazy and it has been neat to see her notice the toys. She laughs a ton, reaches for objects and notices new toys. She doesn't like tummy time but loves standing up and tries to walk towards objects and people. She loves attention and is always full of smiles when we go out.

Her father and I will be changing her and we wil ask her if she pooed and she just dies laughing. We have yet to fingure out what she thinks is so funny about that word but she definately has her daddy's sense of humor.
