my girl is 5 and half months old. 2 weeks ago i saw there was a lump on the left side of her head. at first i thought she might have hit her head somewhere,because she has been rolling around on the floor a lot. but right now the lump is still there and it is still hard. when i touch it, it doesn't seem bothering her either. i know she likes to sleep on her side, can that mess up the shape of her head? i am kind worried that.

my son had that as well, my doctor said that he just favours the opposite side of his head when he is sleeping so he had a bit of a flat spot on one side and a bit of a bump on the other. I just turned his head the other way once he fell asleep and tried to keep him off his back when he was awake and it seems to have helped.
As for permanent damage, i dont think it will have any effect, their skulls are still soft and not fully formed yet so they often develop flat and lumpy spots at this age. Hope I helped a little =)
