I did not let my daughter have any chocolate. I am trying to keep her away from sweets. When she gets older if she wants ice cream she is going to get frozen yogurt [...that is all I buy anyways...]. She has tried regular ice cream [...which she loved...] but that was it. It was only one time when she was 6.5 months and it wasn't much at all. Next easter she may get a small amount of chocolate but not much.

Quoting Amanda:

My son's Nana fed him a chocolate chip cookie at the age of 6months, I wans't really happy with this but it being #3 some things just slide.

Amanda, my father gave my daughter ice cream off his finger when she was 4 months old... I went psycho!!! Now no one gives her anything until i say so! So i know how you would have felt with the cookie!!!!

He has now had a piece of an M & M he does like the taste but it doesn't seem to be something he has to have.  But I am sure he will love chocolate since myself and my 2 other kids love it, but he may turn out like my husband and not like sweats, wouldn't that be nice.  I don't think you have anything to worry about I just wouldn't give it to her all the time.

I reckon 8mo is a LITTLE too young to start on chocolate! I already have to share mine with my husband and 3yo so the baby can wait! But great way for encouraging her to walk!
