My son has got a diaper rash that wont go away. I have tried a+d ointment for the past four days but it seems to not be doing any good. Does anybody have any ideas on what else I could do?

Hi have you tried METANIUM its very good also try and leave him without a nappy threw the day for a while to get some air to his bum.
What i also do is i make sure my daughters bottom is very clean and dry then add a layer of vaseline to her bottom before i put the nappy on, it acts as a barrier so no urine on the bottom. hope this helps

I'm a fan of Dr. Smith's. Works like a charm for babies with sensitive skin.

I have used Zinc on my daughter & it worked.
Have you tried a baking soda/water treatment.. you make a paste out of the 2 items & dab it on.. When its dry, it will flake off on its own.. It is suppose to help against reddness & soreness.
you may want to try using Aveeno Oatmeal that you put into his bath water... its supposed to heal the rash.. you can get this at any drugstore.
I have been told that the above have been used & works... I hope it works for you as well.

Try triple paste- it is expensive but saved our sanity so many times w/ our first born.

Ask your peditriciatn to prescribe nystatin. My daughters diaper rash was so bad it made me cry everytime I changed her. After I used every creme out there, I called her dr and told them that I needed something. They prescribed nystatin and I used that first and then a diaper rash creme and that cleared it up. If have found Boudreaux Butt Paste to be the best .

My daughter has only had diaper rash once. Since then, whenever she has a really wet diaper, we clean her and then aim a hair dryer on her bottom (lowest setting). Keeps her dry and she loves it.

Hi,
I hope these suggestions help you..
1. baking soda & water.. you make a paste with it & then to appy it you just dab it on & let it dry.. its suppose to help against redness & dry up wetness.. it usually flakes off by itself.
2. Aveeno Oatmeal.. you can get it at any drug store... you pour some into the bath water. its an oatmeal bath... let the baby sit in it for I think 15 mins.. I believe there are instructions on the Aveeno you can follow.
3. Zinc = this might sting at first. but it usually helps.. Penetene is very good.

You can try using Triple Paste..I used it on my son when he had horrible diaper rash. It worked and took it completely away. His doctor told us it was the best.

we have had great sucess with sudocrem, not sure if it is available where you are. the trick is to catch it before it really gets bad, i have only needed to use it for a day or so and her rash was all gone. good luck

We use pure aloe vera gel, and it works pretty well. We've also used some special powder that the doc prescribed in the past. Different things work at different times. The A&D stuff and desitin never seem to work for my kids, though.

My son used to get diaper rash so badly his little bottom would bleed! It was terrible. My doctor suggested using Lotrimin. Yes it is an athletes foot creme, but it worked like a charm! Good Luck!!
