i tried that before posting this. she is getting much better with petting the kitty, sometimes she stills grabs his fur but usually she pats him. now they are taking each others toys Victoria will get Jaspers mouse and Jasper will get inside her toy box and pull out her toys.

We have two cats. They run away from Isaac most of the time but sometimes they will stick around. He will pet them and sometimes grab a big chunk of their fur. Whenever he sits next to them, I sit down with him and show him how to 'be nice' and 'gentle' with the kitty while I hold his hand and pet the cat with him. He enjoys that and is learning how to treat the cats. So, I think interacting with your child and showing how to play with the pets properly is key.

All of my kids are the same way. But as my cats have gone from kittens to cats. Thye now know to walk away from the kids. But at the same time I teach the kids be nice. And show them how to pet the cat. Thye are learning. But I have also noticed that when it comes to the baby the cats are more accaepting of the way she acts. Its like thye know she is younger and let her do things to them. But like Kay;a said when you go to friends houses you want them to be nice. And your animals might be use to it and allow it or know to walk away like mine do but someone elses animal might not be so gentle. So just show them how to pet the cat and tell them nice.

that is my problem as well our kitten doesn't even make a noise when she is mean to him. and they chase each other and play together but then she is mean and he just takes it. i don't think she thinks she is being mean she just thinks they are playing.

Oliver's not nice to any of our animals. I don't think he knows that what he's doing is bad though because our animals don't run from him. Our dog dosen't get close to him, but the cat will lay on him and let him beat her. She doesn't offer to move. If she's laying by him and he's ignoring her, she'll beat him with her tail to let him know that she's there! I figured he wasn't hurting her since she doesn't move, but i hate to take him to friend's houses and him be mean to their animals like he is to ours. I have no clue how to make him stop! Best of luck!!
