Hi everyone,

Welcome to the August 2008 Babies community, where we chat about our August 2008 children and whatever else is on our minds!

To get things started, I thought it would be nice if we all introduced ourselves in this thread, which will be pinned to the community home page. Whether you're a Circle of Moms veteran or you're new to the site, let us know who you are, what you’re interested in, and what your lovely August 2008 child is up to right now, developmentally speaking!

My name is Kasha. i am a stay at home mom of one girl and homeschooling her. She is a very active child and hard to keep her focused. She is in 2 sports right now and adding 1 or 2 for the summer. We are also going to try to get her in a music class soon to. It makes my life very busy and a sometimes grumpy little princess.

I am a mother of two boys, 22 years apart, my second chance at happiness brought me a whole new challenge, to be a mother of an autistic boy, and autism awareness advocate. It's my journey, EVERY DAY, with daddy and James, my hubby too is an aspie:) I was 42 when I had him he was born full term, but my pregnancy proved to be full of challenges too, I had gestational diabetes, car accident at 4mths and had to have surgery to repair my broken collar bone, all while I was pregnant. He was induced on Aug. 27, 2008 weighing 8lbs and 4ozs...at the age of 3 we officially had him diagnosed with autism. He was verbally challenged but now he never shuts up j/k oh well I love him all the same and every day is a new day full of many milestones.

Hopefully!!! He speaks English and Spanish and he corrects MY Spanish!!!

Hi, I'm Krystal...29 yrs old. I live in a small town in Tennessee. I've been a member of Circle of Moms for awhile now...cant remember exactly how long lol! I am a stay at home mommy and I love it!! I have 2 children...both born in August!! My 7 yr. old son Dylan was born August 13th 2004 weighing 6 lbs. 11 oz. and my 3 yr. old daughter was born August 6th 2008 weighing 6 lbs. 1 oz. Both of my August babies were born healthy!! My son has had to go through a few things since birth such as getting tubes put in his ears when he was 18 months old and again at 5 yrs old because of reaccuring ear infections and also had to have his tonsils and adnoids taken out at around 5 or 6 yrs old because of having strep 3 times within 2 or 3 months but other than that he is a healthy boy!! My daughter has had to go through alot more than him unfortunately. She had RSV at 3 months old then the swine flu when she turned one and pneumonia right after she got over the swine flu. She got walking pneumonia as well like a yr later and had a bad asthma attack that was triggered because of the pneumonia and had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance because of that...very scary!! My poor baby girl has been through so much medically that she is scared to go to the doc now. She is now 3 yrs old and was just recently hospitalized for 4 days because she wont eat...she is 3 and only weighs like 28 lbs!! Come to find out she was very impacted for the second time in like 2 months so thats one reason she wouldnt eat plus they did a upper GI and found ulcers in her stomach. They were finally able to get her to start atleast drinking Pediasure so now she is finally gaining some weight and doing a little better but we still have a long road ahead of us with more tests and doc visits but atleast now we kinda have an idea of what might be going on.

Anyways other than the medical issues, both my children are pretty advanced I think :) My son is in 2nd grade and he usually finishes most of his work early and he is very artistically talented!! My daughter is 3 and speaks more clear than some 5 yr olds :) They are both very active and so full of energy its great!!! I love my babies so much and wouldnt trade being a mommy for ANYTHING!!!!

Hi, I'm Melissa from a little town in Idaho. I have 2 boys.. one being my 3 year old and one who will be 4 months old on the 9th. I am a LPN but have become a SAHM since i had my baby because i wasn't making enough to make it worth putting both boys in daycare and i am enjoying every minute of it. My 3 year old was a micro preemie being born 11 weeks early and weighing 2 1/2 lb. It was a rough and very scary first few months but.. you would never know it now. We are currently potty training and he is doing excellent with peeing in the potty and staying dry., the other part.. pooping.. is another story. He is such a sweet cute child but is also quite the stinker and is definately in the tyrant threes! He loves his new baby brother to pieces and is such a good big brother. It's so cute.. although i do have to constantly get him off of the poor boy and get him out of his face or to leave him alone. Going from 1 child to 2 is definately a challenge but i love it!

Hi Robin! I know exactly what you are talking about. I work part-time and take full time online classes and it is next to impossible for me to get anything done when the Girls (3 year old twins) are home! It's like they know I have things I need to get done and all heck breaks out!

Hi everyone,

I'm Robin. I'm a 36 year old stay-at-home/work-from-home mother of one little girl born August 25, 2008.

I'm currently finding it increasingly difficult to do the work-from-home part of that equation. It seems the moment Julianne turned three, this switch was flipped and the already high energy child, turned demonic. There are no limits for her. She is into everything worse than before, and no amount of discipline seems to do a darned thing. She laughs and carries on. My husband and I are ready to pull our hair out (and he has little hair to begin with). But on the other side, she has so much character, loves to dance and can be a little comedienne.

Well, that's some of my story. Happy to be here.

Robin

I am a new stay at home Mom due to the fact that my 3 yr old son Cayson has been diagnosed with Autism and has severe food allergies. Very challenging but things are better with me at home full time. Nazevyanga Membe, mother of Berit A.M-Thomas. i AM 42 yrs old with twins-22, girl-19, boy 15 and girls 3! Yeah, it's what I said too.....sucker for kids eh? We live in NC and we love it. It's quiet and homely. I am a Veteran -Navy branch. I work with G4S now. I am also almost done with my BAS -IT System Security.

Berit is in Pre-K3 she can count to 60, can tell the difference between oval and circle, etc, can sing, recognize her name and spell it, knows all basic colors, is very social and can sing well. She had her first show and tell on Friday! She started school on Wednesday!

Berit can count to 40 on her own and she can spell about forty words off the top of her head. We are working on thw writing and coloring in the lines...lol. She is smart and quite tall. She wears size 5 clothes and 6 jackets on account of her height. I am 6 ft and her dad is 6f and 5 inches so the poor girl really did not have a choice...oh and I can not get her to sit still for 3 seconds. She does not cry and plays like there's no tomorrow. Picky eater in a good way. No junk at all. She will hold a cookie, cake, ice cream, etc but not eat or even lick it! She eats veggies, fruit and fruit juice and water. Corn, rice, fish, meat, chicken, etc. Salad is her best dish so I give her only after she eats everything else....lol. If there ever was an Angel-child, I have her....seriously! I can not complain....

Hi, I'm Megan and I'm 35 years old. I have 5 children, my youngest being my August 2008 baby.

I have 4 boys, and they are 10, 9, 6.5, 5.5, and then had a daughter on August 15th 2008, Siahna Jade. She is simply amazing.

She was born prematurely at 32 weeks but weighed a whopping 4lb 12oz. The doctors were shocked. She stayed in the NICU for a couple weeks, only to learn to eat as she had no other problems. I was lucky.

She turned 3 last month and is such a delight. She runs, jumps, hops, screams, squeals, has a very nice vocabulary and is a joker to the core. With 4 older brothers she knows how to rough and tumble with the best of them, tries to climb trees with them, wants to be involved with anything and everything they're doing. She also loves dollhouses and ballerinas and lots of pretend-play involving dolls and cooking. She's a fantastic mix of everything and I love marveling at all that interests her. She has the biggest imagination of all my children and it fascinates me to just watch her entertain herself and how she interacts with her brothers.

She loves hugs, squeezes, knock 'em down games, dirt and mud, dolls and princesses, iPads and iPhones, eating and watching me cook, painting and coloring, dinosaurs and cars. And farts. I thank her brothers for that one.

We're all vegan and I'm a SAHM and I homeschool my kids. I'm a big hippie - cloth diapering, breastfeeding, co-sleeping, anti circ, anti vax, babywearing - but always open to others. :)

Siahna Jade has been the perfect addition to our family and I can't imagine life without her!

She is bright and happy, but very independent and stubborn. She has to do EVERYTHING herself. She dresses herself, gets herself her own food (although not without some mess) puts herself in the car seat and to bed and prefers to read her own stories (although she cant read yet - she enjoys recounting the stories and reading from the pictures). Im a primary teacher (elementary I think you call it?) and we live in Sydney, Australia. Funny, I always seem to join the American forums. But I am looking forward to sharing experiences with other mums!

But now I am a high school graduate and going to my local community college and live on my own with my little man. I am a single mom, and my son is very hyperactive, lovable and a lot of fun! He is very social as well. He will be going to Pre-K already in the fall and he's very tall and skinny :)

My daughter Allisa was born Aug. 12 2008. I also have a 10 year old daughter and a 16 year old son.
Allisa is a little small for her age, almost 2.5, she is still wearing 18 month clothes but she makes up for her size with her smarts. She is very active and very well behaved her manners are superb, she is already up to 7 words sentences. She amazes me every day with the things she does, and says. She is also a great little performer, funny as can be I am enjoying every minute of my beautiful little surprise.

Hi, my name is Kris and I have a 2 year old August 22nd baby name De'Yana. Yana is a very bright and independent little girl. She loves doing for herself and also loves being the center of my world. I often hear from my babysitter that Yana loves to do things for herself. She also is a Noggin (Nick Jr.) watcher. She loves watching all educational shows on Nick (Yo Gabba Gabba, Dora, Team Omi Zoomi, etc.) I started exposing her to this channel when she was 4 months and she learned her numbers in english and spanish at the age of 1. I recommend Nick Jr. to all the moms who are having problems with educating their child at an early age. Yana is now learning to pronunciate her ABC's, Going to the Potty, and writing and coloring. As a parent, I try to expose her to learning in a fun way. She's doing great and I'm having fun with my little ladybug!

I'm a stay at home mum, and I love it. I take my job seriously and have my home tidy and my children comfortable and challenged. I read books and forums on how to be a better parent and I pray to God that I'm doing it right!

Eric is great, he's going thru the independent stage and he is learning more and more words every day, which astounds and delights me. Our next hurdle is potty training.

I'm happy now that I have some to check out CM as before life was chock-a-block with a new born and a toddler, but we've settled nicely now.

She has been repeated everything that she hears, still trying to potty train, which is harder with her than her brother. Gavin will be 7 this month was out of diapers by 2 y/o, I guess Ry is just being difficult, I don't know. how do you get a girl interested in going on the toliet? A boy you throw Fruit loops in the toliet and have him ring them and he thinks it is fun to use the toliet...Girls are more difficult than boys. And she has about 20 pairs of shoes already.

I'm 41 years old and my 18 year old son just went off to college in Seattle and now it's me, my 2 year old daughter, and husband. Having our daughter gave me a new purpose in life. I'm much more appreciative and patient being an older mom compared to being a young mom to my son back then. But I am blessed with a very smart son and a very beautiful and funny little girl. I hope to meet more parents and playmates for our daughter here in SF. It's a little scary thinking about good public schools for my daughter here in the city. I didn't have that challenge when I was raising my son. I remain optimistic that when the time comes, i'll be able to find a great public school from Kindergarten -H.S. for my little one.

He was born with tongue tie, hyperspadies, bilaterial talipes and i actually don't kow the name of the other one but it has something to do with him missing one of the line on his hands. (Weird i know) I honestly wouldn't change him he is perfect. It was a bit hard to concentrate during my pregnancy on how hw would be after birth as i was told he had trisomy 18 edwards syndrome and well i could only think of trying to keep him safe all tho nothing i could do would stop the effects of that. However i did have alot of tests that proved he didnt have any sydrome like the doctors were telling me! (If its not this one it could be that and so on) after getting into the hospital i soon discovered i was not the only one having a baby who was special and since his birth i have noticed there is nothing different about him. To my husband and i he is our little miracle and our family wouldn't be complete without him :)

We decided to keep her, at 19 weeks i thought i was having a miscarriage turns out i was pregnant with identical twin girls and had twin to twin tranfusion so sever that Kassidy took everything from the other and i lost it because she had nothing to survie off of. 4 weeks later i was diagnosed with sever polyhydraminos at 24 weeks i mesured full term. and i just kept getting bigger n bigger i went into labor at 28 weeks they were able to stop it at this point i measured beyond 40 weeks. and at 30 weeks my water broke i had her 08/08/08 at almost 8 oclock. she came out not breathing and had to be intabated. She weighed 4lbs and 17 inches. her weighted dropped down to 2lbs and 13oz we spent a totaled of 49 days in the hospital. She is now a very active 2 yr old and we just welcomed her little sister in july. She still has health problems and very tiny for her age but it never stops her

Hi everyone. My name is Stacey and my youngest son was born August 2nd, 2008. Funny thing is he also weighed 8lb 2oz. I also have two other children Cameron, age 7, and Adi'Lynne, age 5. My two oldest are from a previous marriage but I love them just as much as my youngest. It's funny you would think the kids would notice a difference because my youngest son is Mexican but all my oldest boy says is he needs to lay out so he can be just like his younger brother. They love each other unconditionally and that is how things should be.
I am a stay at home mom attending college online to get my Bachelor's in Business Administrative and Management. I have been in school for 6 months and though it is very different in an online setting it is still fun. I will be able to make good money and spoil my 3 wonderful children yet still teach them the value of a dollar.

Agatha is a happy little girl that's just starting to connect letters into words, she counts items up to about 10 and can count to 15 by memory. She loves to sing and play harmonica (and plays a mean rock band too: ) And today she just started biting her fingernails and picking her nose (I'm very proud hehe).

She loves to cuddle and help out. Her favorite thing is helping make omelets right now - she loves cracking eggs. And if anyone ever wondered what a dozen eggs looks like on the kitchen floor I can tell you : )

Shes really having a tough time transitioning from being baby to waiting for a baby to come. Also trying to be heard over her big sisters substantial force. For the most part she's pretty easy going, but she's def tired of her sister being boss lol.

Hi everyone!! ^^

I'm Elise, 22 years old.. from Philippines. I have 1 child, his name is Elixe.. I'm new here, and i really want to meet new friends.. I'm glad, i came across to being a member here.. I been reading stuffs about babies, and mother's common problems.. and I'm so glad there's a lot of Mommies, who is willing to help, and share their thoughts, and experiences..
Well, I'm a new mom, and I have learned a lot of things,in just a little time roaming around in this site.

I believe there's a lot of things, this site can offer, and i'm so excited to learn new things, regarding child care..
As of now my Elixe knows how to sing the ABC, and remembers 12345678910.. he can tell his whole name and he knows my and his father's name.. He recognizes everyone in our family, and can call them by their names.. I believe he'll gonna be a Musician, b'coz he's so into Music.. He loves to play Musical Instrument, and enjoys Karaoke singing with the Family.. I know someday he'll gonna be the boy version of Charice Pempengco.. I'm so proud of my little angel...

Hello! I'm April- 33 yrs. old with two boys: Teven (6) Aiden (almost 2 the 28th of August)! I am at home with my boys. I also teach Zumba Fitness part time. I love to dance, read, write, BLOG, and VLOG!
I am from Maryland and we currently live in PA: 2 hrs. from Maryland.

Aiden is a handful! He is VERY active! He is very coordinated and does a lot of gymnastics type moves already! He already know how to throw a football, knows how to kick the soccer ball and knows how to shoot the basketball in the basket! It's crazy and I can't believe how coordinated he is already.

He is growing up so fast and I am missing the baby days. He says MAMA, which my oldest started saying Mommy. I think that's funny. He (Aiden) acts like an old man sometimes in a toddler's body! He loves to dance just like his Mommy. Every time we put on a song he just loves to move. He is very rough and strong. I'll post new pics up on my page.
I have been on Circle of Moms since last year, but have not been active on it. I hope to get on it more. Busy schedules don't allow for much, but I do realize that this (Circle of Moms Community) helps keep me sane and more at peace.

Look forward to chatting with you all :)

Hi there. My name is Avril and I am from Sydney Australia. My daughter, Verity Storm, was born on August 25th and is my second child. I have a cheeky 3 year old boy and the two of them are the best of friends. Verity is a much wanted and loved baby and a sheer delight. She is quite articulate but she does love to wake up at 2.30 am every morning and demand to come to mummy's bed. I like having her in there but I hope she is not doing it when she is 10.; )
