my 14 month olds everyday behavior worries me a little. she has been walking for 3 months now, and still trips and stumbles all the time! also, she doesn't run, never has. she has never been one to bouce/jump either. we had a doorway jumper for her when she was little, but never figured out the JUMP part. i just see other babies her age, and usually i am not one to compare her to other toddlers...but this i can't help to see. other toddlers her age seem to be very energetic and run around and stuff. but she just seems very mellow in comparison. i am having a hard time deciding whether is just her personality,or if maybe her range of motion is off...i just don't know.....also when around other babies her age, she doesn't interact very much, they try to play with her, but she'd rather do her own thing.

She's a girl... are you looking at other girls who don't have brothers? Most of my mommy firends who have girls enrolled them in tumble classes to bump up thier motion...

My girl has a brother... and she's fairly good at the walk/run... but she falls all the time.

I would say- talk to your ped. If it worries you... just when you bring it up- don't try to 'name' it just say I noticed this behavior she has it's like this... it seems off to me...

Oh and kids pretty muh play with toys... not each other... is she normally holding something she's into? That maybe they are into as well? And at this age a month makes a huge difference on the stages... are the kids the same age... or give or take...

And of course have to ask- are you or your husband athletic and very social? I find that kids tend to mimick thier parents... so if you guys aren't VERY outgoing or athletic... she'll come into it a little later.

Just my two cents... I hope you won't worry too much and just enjoy this phase... she'll be running and talking to you soon so much so that you wish she would stop! =O)

babies her age develop at such different rates! I know a 14 month old girl who is still content to crawl. My 14 month old boy runs like crazy and almost never walks anymore. When they are figuring out how to walk there is a lot of stumbling and falling and tripping. Try different shoes. We did with my son and he's doing a lot better, although he still trips a lot especially outside on uneven ground.
As far as playing together - that's something that comes later. At this age they will play side by side and the only interaction might be when one wants the other's toy. My younger son is like this even with an older brother who wants to play with him all the time.
Doesn't sound like you have too much to worry about. Just enjoy your daughter and let her do her thing.

I wouldnt worrie at all I have four children and they have all been so different some are just more active and more social My oldest son was the one who always played and talked to every child he saw while my middle son just likes to keep to himself more. then my youngest son who is 14 months isnt walking yet he has taken a few steps but just doesnt choose to walk and the doctors also agree that it isnt anthing we need to worrie about right now. So I wouldnt worrie about your daughter and I'd just remember that each child is different in their personalitys and their ability to do things.
