Hi, I am a new member. My little guy (not so little anymore at nearly 20 lbs), was born on August 17. He was 8, 7. I love being his mother!
He is just learning to sit up alone and roll. He is teething, drooling like a waterfall, lol! He loves looking at colourful pictures in books, and he always laughing at the family cat! Cutest laugh ever!!!

Hello! I'm new here! My handsome boy, Shawn, was born on August 14, 2008. After 24 hours of labor, 1 1/2 hours of pushing, and finally a C-section, he arrived! Oh, did I mention that he was 10 days late! He weighed 8 lbs 13 oz at birth, and now weighs almost 19 lbs!!!! He's wanting to crawl, and rolls over as soon as you put him on the floor! He loves to eat different foods, but specifically pears and bananas. He's always been a good nighttime sleeper, sleeping 10-11 hours a night. He's just getting the "hang" of taking naps. We were struggling with that for awhile! He loves to flirt with the ladies, especially older ladies that smile at him. He is such a precious addition to our family!

Hey everybody, I'm a newbie :) Tyler is my second son, born 8/1/08 about 3:30 am...On his due date! I went back to work when he was 11wks old. i work second shift, which is hard with two little ones, but luckly we have found a wonderful day care willing to take them on a part time basis without charging lots of $$$... and family willing to help whenever we need it... We also lucked out in the sleep department, both my kids wer sleeping through the night by the time they were 4 months old..:)

I had to go back to work full time when Nathaniel was 8 weeks old. It sucked. But luckily I had my mom around to babysit him for about 1 1/2 months. Now he's with my Mom Monday-Tuesday and then at a babysitter Wed-Friday. My husband and I have been tossing around the thought of trying for a second child... but I don't know if I can afford daycare for 2 kids! LOL.

just joined the circle of mom's...I have a 3 year old son (Sean)soon to be 4 in march...
Estelle was born 08/31/08 at just after 11pm...so she was barely an aug baby. my due date was Labour day (Canadian Holiday) and my husband kept teasing me about the new meaning of Labour. Estelle still gets up 1 to 2 times a night, and Sean at least one to tell me about his dreams. it is great to have a place to share with other mom's...

I just took mine out completely... I wanted to take it out and let it grow over to get it re-done but I never had the nerve to do it until i got pregnant. I had it done for almost 10 years at that point. I never bothered with the maternity ring because I wanted it to grow over but only recently I cannot get the ring in anymore... Up until then it still was not grown over.
I am still on maternity leave. I have a year but I am not going back to work until Nadia starts school and then it will only be part time. We worked it out and if I go back to work after a year then with the cost of daycare I will only be making $40 a week for myself and the rest will be for daycare. Basically it is not worth it for us to have someone else basically raise our child. It would be different if we had family living near us but we live 6000km away so that is not an option!!!

My little girl (Jade) was 8lb 2 oz at birth, and she was still 5 days early. Everybody was surprised she was so big, people at work guessed no more than 6 1/2 lbs. Even so, I gained 25 lbs and it was all gone by 3-4 weeks postpartum. Yes, it was so hard not to push!!! I'd say that part and the contractions during transition were the most challenging parts of labor.
I tried to use Vitamin E lotion all the time to minimize stretch marks. But I got kinda lazy toward the end, it was hard to stay motivated! LOL For those of you w/ pierced belly buttons, did you use a maternity ring? I took my regular one out around 20 weeks then had the maternity one in until about 29 weeks, but then it got too uncomfortable too. But I am happy to report I'm wearing my regular one again : )
So are any of you working again? I had to go back when Jade was 7 weeks. I noticed some of you are from Europe & Canada, so do you guys have a longer maternity leave?

Sometimes when my little girl won't go to sleep but is really tired I rub her cheek with her favourite blanket and it soothes and comforts her and she goes to sleep.

I had my belly button pierced and only took it out when I was like 6 months pregnant... No stretch marks from it... I also used some baby oil in conjunction with the cocoa butter... I read that it was specifically Palmers Cocoa Butter that does it not sure if any of the other kinds work as well or at all but I wasn't taking my chances on it. I would put it ALL over my body as soon as I got out of the shower and any time during the day I felt like I needed it.

Steph- I wonder if a cushion would work for Micaela. I've got a few new ideas to try from this website already, but that's definitely going to be one of them.
Megan- I used Cocoa Butter and I have AWFUL stretch marks. They sort of just appeared in the last month, except, like Michelle, for the one at my belly button cuz it was pierced, which came at around month 4 or 5.
And Michelle, I cannot imagine not pushing. The nurses let me push with them for about 15 minutes before the doctor even came, but I pushed for an hour, so maybe they knew she wasn`t coming right away.
Oh, and I`m from Nova Scotia. :)

I used Palmers Coca Butter moisturizer throughout my whole pregnancy multiple times per day. It is supposed to help prevent stretch marks and I guess it worked for me as I don't have any. I never did look like I was full term pregnant though. I didn't start to show until I was 24 weeks into my pregnancy. I only gained 23 pounds and they were gone a few months after she was born. Nadia was 5lbs 2ozs at birth. Small babies run on my side of the family.

Megan, you are so lucky to have not had morning sickness OR stretch marks! I was sick til 20 weeks or so, and even then I didn't feel normal. I thought I was doing good w/ no stretch marks (except the ones around my belly button since I had it pierced) but a few days before she was born, I had quite a few way down low. And I STILL have them! Grrrr. .. but she's worth it of course!
Nelly, yeah I only had to push for like 10-11 minutes, but I was trying to NOT push for about 20-30 min. It was the middle of the night & my doc had to be called in.

I think that is crazy the nurses telling you not to push. If they have to deliver then they have to deliver... When that baby is ready to come out he/she is coming. My doctor wasn't there when I started pushing. He was doing a c-section as well. I was only pushing for like 15 minutes and Nadia was born. The doctor got there after she was born.

Michelle Fogg: I know what you mean about the pushing thing! LOL. My son was born 8/12/08 at 11:11am. And I had the urge to push but my doc was doing an Emergency C-Section and the nurse said "NOOO.. don't push yet. If you do, I will have to deliver you baby" Well.. I couldn't hold it anymore.. and I started pushing... well.. a few mins into pushing the doctor comings running in and about 5 mins later.. Nathaniel was in my arms! :)

Steph - I've been back to work since my daughter was 7 weeks old and it is very hard getting up all the time to feed her (I'm breastfeeding) and still being coherent at work. One thing we've started recently is having her sleep with us. I didn't want to do this, but last night she was screaming for an hour and a half so I finally gave up & let her sleep with us and it was one of the best nights. She still woke up 2-3 times but just fed her right there & we all went back to sleep.
Andrea - our daughters were born on the same day, how cool! Mine was at 2:53am. It would've been faster but our doctor wasnt there so I had to wait (one of the hardest things to do - not push when your body is telling you to!)
Where are all of you guys from? I live in Las Vegas.

Hey everyone,
My daughter, Micaela, was born 08/28/08 at 12:21 a.m. She used to sleep in her basinette from about 8p.m. to 4a.m. but now since we switched to her crib she wakes up between 12 and 130am, and then a couple more times. I guess this is because she doesn't fall asleep in her crib, but I can't listen to her cry it out. I've tried and I feel too bad. We started her on solids too, but that didn't make any difference. I think in a couple more months, I'll try the crying again, but for now, I'll just get up with her :)

My daughter was born 8/20/08 at 12:21 pm... I thought that was a pretty neat date and time!!! Maybe it is just me!!! haha. She has been sleeping through the night since she was 6 weeks old. Sometimes she will stir if she loses her pacifier and wants it but for the most part she is a really good sleeper. Going to bed between 9pm and 10pm and waking between 8am and 10am. Most of the time sleeping anywhere from 10 to 12 hours. She only takes short naps during the day and the rest of the time I am occupying her. Her seperation anxiety has started to set in but she is fine if there is someone, anyone in the room with her.
Where she has been such a good sleeper I am much afraid that for our second baby it [hopefully HE] will be the complete opposite. But that is not for a couple of years yet!!! I just hope we luck out as good as we did with Nadia. No morning sickness, no stretch marks, 15 minute delivery, no stitches needed... I am starting to prepare myself now for an opposite pregnancy even tho we have a few years before that happens!!!

Nelly, my little girl is NOT sleeping through the night either. I think she's slept 7-8 hours maybe 5 different nights in her life. The rest of the time, she's up a few times. And the last week she goes to bed around 8-9, then gets up at 10pm, 11pm, and midnight, then we give up & let her sleep in our bed and she still wakes up twice more to eat!
Nice to meet all of you guys!

Hi.. I'm new on here as well. Jason was born 8/21...9 days late and almost 10 lbs. He's an awesome little guy. So much fun to be around every day. I work from home, so I get to enjoy every minute with him. We started him on solids in mid-December. We just make sure that he still gets enough formula every day since it has all the important nutritions for his development. He giggles, laughs, screams (in a good way), eats his feet, rolls over, scoots all over the floor, sits in his bumbo seat and is learning to sit up. He still wakes once or twice during the night, but goes right back to sleep after a bottle. He's probably the best thing that ever happened to us!

Hello, everyone! I am a new member. My daughter, Marissa was born on 8/18/08. I thought that this was a pretty cool day for her to be born especially since my birthday is 08/08 (however, I am not revealing the year just yet). I have been very fortunate to have Marissa especially as a first baby. I also introduced her solids last month when she was 4 months old (12/19/2008) with the doctor's approval. She has been sleeping through the night for the past couple of months; however, just in the last few nights she has been waking up - not to eat but because she "lost' her pacifier and she needs it to sleep. This is a relatively new thing since I thought that she was starting to grow out of her pacifier now. Good news is that she does fall back asleep after I give her back her pacifier so it is only about a 2 minute thing. Good luck to those who do not have the luck I have. Since Marissa is so good, I am a little concerned about a second child that I may have in a couple of years.

Hi Nelly - yes, Reagan was born 8/6 and just the past 2-3 weeks started waking up in the middle of the night again. We too thought solids would help, but she's still getting up. You're not alone! I will say, I've been putting the Hyland teething tablets in her last bottle. I know she's been having signs of teething and these tablets are homeopathic. They've kind of helped her sleep, but not always.

Everyone says kids his age should be sleeping through the night now.. not mine! LOL. He's also already on solids, I thought that would help.. but it hasnt.

Hello My little guy Zach was born 8-8 We were hoping that from the very beginning. So were pleased with that date. He has been the best 1st baby ever. A little nervous to even think of a second child some day. He has just been so easy. We couldn't have asked for a better kid. Zach is becoming a lot more fun now. Peek-A-Boo is his favorite. Now he purposly sticks the blanket over his head and waits for us to pull it off. Wishing you all the best in this wonderful adventure.
