My daughter didn't roll over till about a month ago, but my son who is now 5 was rolling at about 4 months. I was really concerned about this too but then i watched her and realized she thinks a lot about things before she does them. She can now sit up on her own but still doesn't crawl, and it all comes down to what she feels is safe. She is my thinker not my doer, where as my son is the doer not the thinker. I hope it helps.

No, I wouldn't even worry about it. Babies are just like us, they do their own things in their own time. My son is 6 1/2 months and doesn't sit himself up yet, no worries.

Thanks so much for posting this question, Sabina. My little man is 7mths tomorrow and I was a bit worried that he was not sitting up yet, but is rolling and rocking on all 4's so I'm guessing it won't be long before he is crawling...but as for his not sitting up, I can now relate to what Candace said about long torso's - my son has quite a long torso so I guess it will just take a little longer for those long little muscles to be strong enough to hold him up!

I wouldn't worry at all. If your child is constantly missing milestones, you might get concerned, but I don't even think your baby is out of the range of normal for sitting. She'll get it in her own time. You can always ask your doctor too, just for reassurance, and he/she will tell you when it's time to get concerned. But I don't think you have anything to worry about.

nah ... its true what they say ,every baby has its own milestone... i have had six altogether and all did it at a different pace ... i can tell u my third baby was the laziest baby on the planet as she didnt do a whole lot til she hit ten mths then boom she did everything at once right up til 14mths stage ... where as my second born was the earliest she was in a hurry to meet all her milestones early bang bang she wasnt my baby for long she was pretty independant by thte time she hit nine mths she was walking and all she was crawling at 3 mths old and everything pretty early ... adverage for most baby to sit on own is between 7-8 mths depends on mother sitting the baby and if your baby has a very long torso long babies tend to be bit later than those with shorter torso... like my neice she six weeks younger than my son and she sitting on her own already where as my son can sorta sit but he leans forward alot u know like leans onto his legs forward then flops on to the side that is normal too... i wouldnt worry too much hope this helps you ....

my lil boy is 7 months and isnt sitting up on his own - i aint worried at all coz all babies are different - my first son had teeth startin at 4 month and my 7months son has no teeth yet - i was worried at first but then everyone was telling me that all babies are different - so i shouldnt be too worried about ur daughter not sitting up yet...

I've seen plenty of babies at baby group who were 7-8 months before sitting. They all go to their own schedule. It doesn't matter too much if she's late... everyone sits/walks in the end.
