Pooping problems...

My daughter is 2y 9m and was doing fairly well with potty training until recently. We pretty much allowed her to dictate when she was ready to use big girl underpants/Pull-ups and the potty, we didn't want to force things when she was not ready. She went #1 and #2 without much prompting almost from day 1 on her own, then she had an accident and went #2 in her panties... and now she won't poop. At all. She is holding it in for days, she cries and whines that she has to go, but she won't sit on the potty for more than a minute. She is not constipated, just stubbornly holding it in. We have her on a steady high fiber diet, lots of fluids. We are at our end, I feel so badly for her... she is crabby & in pain daily which makes life hard on all of us. We have tried to talk to her about it at her level of understanding and have read 'Everyone Poops' to try to put her at ease... Can anyone offer any advice(besides medication)???

I would put a pull up back on her and tell her it's Ok to go in it. She is holding in her #2's, in turn making her constipated. Girls tend to do this more so than boys. It can be very painful.

Also the other mom mentioned apple sauce, do that or apple juice (undiluted at least 4 ounces is what the Dr told me anyway) to make her "go" Sounds mean but it's a lot better than holding it in! Good luck!

Our daughter did this too- for MONTHS. I thought she'd never train because she held it in all the time- to the point where she was shaking and crying in pain. I googled and googled and finally- somewhere I read to try mineral oil. Just a little in her juice once a day for a few days- her stools will become so loose, she can't hold it in. Leave her in a pull-up or you'll have a big mess on your hands. We probably did this for a month or so off and on and the fear wore away. Now, months later, she is fully trained :)
