sleeping.....or really not sleeping

My guy is also still swaddled to sleep. I have him in the kidappotamus swaddle-me which is velcro and keeps him in nice and tight however he does still wake up I think just out of habit so I have been slowly working him out of it by giving him his soother (if you use one) and shushing or rocking him as needed even if he only goes an extra 10-20 minutes it builds up so they eventually go longer. Over 2 wks I have him no going 6-7hrs without feeding. I wake him to nurse before I go to bed 10 or 11pm, and then he gets up to eat around 5-6. I am completely opposed to the cold turkey 'cry-it-out' but this method has been working for me so far. It can be frustrating since it is a slow process and you have to get up more often at first but it DOES pay off if you stick to your guns. I know people sa not to pick them up but it works to get them back to sleep without eating at first and then you just work your way out of it as well. Like I said, it takes a while but works in the end and I feel it is better to let your baby know you are there when they need you rather than going through a big traumatizing episode when it's not always necessary. Sorry for the big novel. Hope this helps!
