Can someone recommend a teething cookie? My mom seems to think that Aidan should be getting them now because i was eating them at his age. Any thoughts about giving a 6 month old a cookie would be appreciated.

I haven't ever seen mum mums. I am usually a die hard Gerber fan. I used their biter biscuits with my 1st son.

I bought some mum mums yesterday. I took them away because he instantly had large pieces bit off. Should he be able to do that?! I would fish the big pieces out of his mouth and he would immediatly bite off another piece

Be careful with the milk arrowroots for bubs so little. They can be a choking hazard because they're quite dry and bits can break off. A friend of mine had a very scary experience with one of these and her 7 month old.

Yeah, pretty much. They're not real tasty...they just sort of gnaw on them for some relief while they're teething but they're hard and designed not to break down until they've been pretty seriously slobbered on...hehe. We get them in regular and vegetable here and you can also get an organic brand.
Do you have a biscuit called Milk Arrowroot there?? They are excellent, much tastier but not full of sugar and takes less slobbering for the little one to get a bit of a taste of it....

I went and got my little girl the mum mums yesterday and she LOVES them! It was really funny seeing her face when she was first trying one out! She is going to be 7 months next week so I've really been trying to teach her how to feed herself and this is the perfect starter! She's not so good with the spoon from mouth to bowl yet lol!

I give my daughter Zwieback (sp) toast and she love it!!! I also give her the biter biscuits by Gerber. I guess I have never associated them with teething even though I guess they do knaw on them. I just give them to her to help with picking things up and eating on their own.

Hi, not sure if you have baby food by a company called Heinz over there ( I am from Australia)...but they make teething rusks...they are a long hard biscuit that is designed for babies to chew on without it breaking up in thier mouths for a long while and alot of slobbering. You can also make your own using strips of bread in the microwave or baked in the oven with a bit of vegemite...or some kind of veggie spread, not sure what you have there??

We let our son try the mum-mums and he enjoyed them but by far his favourite are Farley biscuits (the banana flavour to be exact), although they are some what messier then the mum-mums.

I would say so--they really do dissolve as soon as they suck on them. Try it and see what you think--you know that you will use them eventually! Good Luck :)

I was just about to buy the mum mums for my little girl this morning! She is going to be 7 mos. in a week, but I decided against them because she isn't sitting up completely sitting up on her own yet and I wasn't sure if it would be ok or not! Is it ok for me to give them to her even though she's still a supported sitter?

I would tell her if she can find one that tastes good and dissolves like the Mum Mums then you would be willing to try them--also the sugar content is for four crackers and we eat 2 maybe a day. Glad Aiden liked them though! :)

Thanks for your responses, Ladies! Aidan loves the mum mums! My mother in law is concerned because there is sugar in them, but from what I can tell there is sugar in most available brands.

I agree with the Baby mum mum's....my first daughter loved them, and they melt right away. Unlike other cookies that small chunks can come off.

What I just found recently are called Baby Mum Mums. They are in the baby food isle at Wal-mart. I was leary about letting my daughter try a "cookie" and found these. They are wonderful. They pretty much dissolve when they get in the mouth and have a veggie one too. The price is reasonable to $2.00 for 24 "cookies" I like giving it to her in the afternoon, so she kinda gets the hang of feeding herself. Hope this helps!

Earth's Best makes a good organic one. But, I say if the baby isn't teething then he may not need them. You have to do what you think is best for your child. My mom likes to give me advice a lot and it is hard to ignore sometimes because I think I have to do what my mom says. I mean hey she raised me and I turned out ok. Anyway, like I said Earth's best are ok, and the gerber ones are pretty good too. Good luck.
