wow, my girl was born at 7.8lbs she is now pushing on 22 lbs. she gained weight very rapidly. I tried to start her on pablum at 4 months but my local nurse asked me to hold off till she was 6 months. She was doing so well but now that I waited she isn't taking to it very well. I feed her pablum at lunch and dinner and trying different foods every week to see her reaction to it. So far I've tried apple sauce and sweet potatoes. As soon as I have her on a better schedule I'll start feeding her more foods.

Aidan was 8lbs 2oz when he was born. He breastfeeds at 7:30-8:30am with 2tbsp of cereal. He naps from 9:30-10:30 and breastfeeds again when he wakes up. At noon he gets some veggies and an ounce of expressed milk. He naps again from 1-2:30. Breastfeeds when he wakes up. Nap from 4:30-5:30. Breastfeeds when he wakes up. 3 tbsp of cereal for dinner at 6:30 with an ounce of expressed milk and a bottle of expressed milk + formula at 8:30 for bedtime. He started sleeping through the night before Christmas, but hasn't since. He's up anywhere from 2-5am where he breastfeeds again.

Madyson was 6 mos. on the 2nd. She gets up at around 7:30-8:00 and has a 6 oz. bottle. At around 9:30 she has cereal and then goes down for a nap. At noon she has a 6 oz. bottle. She usually take a nap around 1:00 and then has another 6oz. bottle at 4pm. At 7:00 she gets more cereal and a fruit or veggie and then has a 6 oz. bottle at around 7:45. She sleeps through the night with no feedings.

If you're mixing the cereal in the bottle that is just pure laziness at 5-6 months. Unless if its for a medical reason solids should be given to the baby by spoon, otherwise can cause chocking hazards.

Hey your doing well, my son isn't on as much solids as yours yet however he is bigger. hes 6 months on the 27th and is 22lb but he was only 8lb 11oz born. so like you said he is a baby and he is not overweight. if he is also a long baby then i wouldn't really worry about it. if hes hungry feed him.
your doing well :)

It's really amazing to see how everyone is so different with the feeding-I really feel like I'm late in the game. My little guy will only be 6 months on the 19 and right now he is only eating cereal in the morning and has 5 bottles through the day. I was going to start veggies this weekend. He still sleeps anywhere from 9 to 6 in the morning. I better get moving!!

This is great to see how other 6 mth olds eat! My son eats 2 tbsp of oatmeal at 7:30 with an 8 oz bottle, then 2 tbsp of veggies and 8 oz bottle at 12:00, at 4:30 he'll eat 3 tbsp of rice cereal and 8 oz bottle and his last feeding is at 8:00pm with just an 8oz bottle. He is growing up so fast, 27 inches long and 18 lbs.

I always mix the cereal with fornula to ensure he gets all the nutrients from the milk. And soon I will start veggies with lunch.

I am glad to read all different schedules of feedings to find the right balance for us. OUr girl is going to be 6 months tomorrow on 10th. She was born  6lbs 2 oz and now is almost 18 lbs. She is up from 8.00am - 7.30pm with 2-3 naps. She spits up a lot so I give her bottle every 2-3 hours 3 -4 oz - basicaly when she gets hungry. Only before she goes to bed she gets 5oz.  She also eats rice cereal mixed with fruit in the morning, usualy before her nap, and a 2nd stage jar of fruit or veggies or vegies with rice late afternoon. Today she showed interest in eating while I had my late lunch so she got 1/3 of another jar. I guess we will be doing 3 solid food feedings from now on.  She also wakes up around 5am to have another bottle. I wonder if she doesnt have enough food during a day or simply can not sleep for 12 hours without eating.

I can relate to the big guy, my second child was 9lbs 14oz, and has been in the 95%+ since birth. He wont be 6 mos for a few more weeks but is about 21lbs now. He has a 7oz bottle about every 3 or 4 hours with cereal in his morning and last bottle at night, he doesnt seem to like the cereal when I just try to feed it to him even if I mix it with a little fruit.  He also has 2-3 things of fruit or veggies. I feed on demand and not really at any specific time. It may sound like a lot but I when you think of it he is the size of some 1yr olds and they get to eat regular food. If he didnt want it he wouldnt eat it. My first was a good size too, and they level out eventually when they start to move around.

you can't over feed a baby, bigger babies need more food, as long as his poos are fine and he is happy don't worry.  my little girl is small, but eats twice a day mid morning and mid afternoon about half a cup.

Let's see....my son was 8lbs 4 oz when he was born and now he weighs about 15 lbs.   He breastfeeds about 6 times a day but the times always change.  I'd say he eats every 2-3 hours with the first feed around 7 am and the last feed about 8 pm.  He eats a jar of fruit sometime in the morning, usually right before his morning nap.  Then he has a jar of veggies in the evening, usually around 6.  Yesterday he was whining like he was hungry in the midafternoon and I kept trying to breastfeed him.  He didn't want it though and nothing was making him happy so I finally gave him a couple tablespoons of cereal and then he was fine.  He's such a mellow baby that I knew something was off when he wouldn't stop whining.  I suspect that he will now be eating solids three times a day.

My daughter, who was born 4 weeks premmie, is turning 6 months on the 20th. This is my feeding schedule-
7am Breast, then 2tbsp cereal and half a jar of fruit
10.30am breast, then 4oz formula
11.15am Jar of organic vegies
2pm breast and 4 oz formula
5pm 4oz formula
5.30pm 2tbsp cereal with half a jar of fruit
6pm 2oz formula
7pm Breast

we find with this schedule and an hour nap at 9am, two hours at 12am, then a half hour to 45 min nap at 4pm, she will usually sleep 12 hours from 7pm-7am. She is a very content and satisfied baby girl.

My daughter is in the 5th percentile for her weight and was born August 5th. She eats at 6, 9, noon, 3 and 6pm. I give her bottles at the 6am noon and 6pm feedings, but she only eats about 4 oz at a time. At 9am and 3pm she gets baby food mixed with rice cereal and a couple ounces of formula. She weight 13 lbs and 2 oz.

Austin will be 6 months on the 10th, was 7lbs 1oz at birth and is now about 19lbs. Our feeding schedule goes like this:

8am - 1/3 cup of cereal, 1/3 jar of fruit, 5oz bottle

12pm - 1/2 jar of vegetable, 8 oz bottle

4pm - 1/3 cup of cereal, 1/2 jar of vegetable, 1/3 jar of fruit, 5 oz bottle (he never finishes it)

8pm - 8 oz bottle.

When he eats his cereal, instead of mixing it with water i use a couple ounces from his bottle to make sure that he is still getting enough formula because he rarely finishes it.

My little man in 6 months on the 10th. He was 5 weeks premature and weighed 5lbs 2 oz. We do morning bottle around 8, solids (fruit) and bottle at noon, bottle at 4, solids (veggie) at 7 followed by bath and bedtime bottle. All bottles are 7oz and have a teaspoon of rice cereal in them. Occasionally he wakes up at 4am for another one (maybe twice a week) then go back to bed. He's now almost 18lbs

My little guy turned 6 months old today.  He was 8lbs 7oz when he was born.  He weights just over 18lbs now.  I feed him a 6 oz bottle and cereal with a little fruit in the morning (between 7:30-8:30).  Lunch time (between 11-12) he eats another 6 oz bottle and a jar of 2nd foods.  Dinner is the same as lunch.  He also gets a bottle between lunch and dinner and before bedtime.  My pediatrician said too much cereal can cause constipation...I think you and I are pretty similiar in feedings...
