My son plays in his jumperoo, or because he is a clingy one... he lives in my ouch or sling while I work around the house... I've gotten pretty talented at making tutu's over his head now!

Great suggestions above. I'll add a few:

it's not to early to start some crafts or sensory exploration with him. I know at my daycare, they've already brought in some snow in a bucket for the kids to play with and touch, and they do non-toxic finger paints, and have them put their hands in oatmeal (wet/cooked) and rice (dry). Also, play music, sing and dance along, clap his hands or feet together. Of course reading to him, or letting him play with board books. Also, switch out the toys every so often, so he sees something new he's probably forgotten about. Otherwise, put him in a carrier (if you have one) and let him hang out with you while you get some things done.

My daughter is now 5 months old and like you, about a month ago I noticed she was becoming increasingly bored. I bought her a jumperoo (only $35 from Walmart) which she likes, but still isn't too good at jumping in yet. She loves Baby Beethoven DVD's, so I will put that on and set her in her bouncer seat and she watches it while I clean or cook. I put her on her tummy on her blanket, and let her play with her small toys (a crinkly book, teething ring, dollies), I take her for a walk in the stroller, I push her in her baby swing in the backyard. She also has a walker that she doesn't really move around in, but she likes to sit in it and play with the toys on it. Keeping her entertained is a full time job in itself.

I agree! Grace loves when I lay her on a blanket in the living room and we just talk and laugh and play. Time goes by sooo quickly!! She loves to just wear her diaper- she is a happy naked baby! She also has the fisher- price rainforest gym....she loves that and even rolls over on her belly to have some tummy time. You know what I have realized is that she does love all these toys and they "keep her attention" but really they just want to be with you! Just to talk, and laugh and play!!!

I son just turned 5 months today but every morning we try to catch like the higglytown heroes, winnie the pooh, and mickey mouse clubhouse cartoons. I can't stand watching like the doodlebops or the wiggles. My son naps about every 2 hours so I can get some cleaning or scrapbooking and a shower but he loves just laying in his crib and watching his mobile or just laying on the floor and having lots of face to face time. Jurren's not too interested in many toys yet but he loves to be just carried around the house or sometimes he just chills in his highchair while I do dishes. His highchair has wheels so sometimes we race around the house also. It's kind of hard to come up with things to do with a small child but if you find something they like you might find yourself doing it for hours. I think my son's pretty independent because a lot of the time he's just happy in his crib screaming and talking.

My daughter and I watch cartoons in the morning!! She loves to see all the movement! Does he have any toys? Maybe just lay him in his crib with some toys, Riley has some attached to her crib so that she can't choke on them, she'll just play in there for hours! Try one of those toys that plays music on the crib.

i have a four month old, and i tell you what, he LOVES his bouncer! he kicks 90 percent of the time, so you could try that, or one of those play mats that play music and lights up.

we have a playmat which we use ALL the time and it helps him learn to entertain himself and he loves it. my mother got him an exersaucer for xmas so that will also help keep his attention.
