My 4 month old is refusing to nurse or eat her bottle. She will eat some baby food, but I don't want to supplement too much. She is very active and happy still, but I worry about her not getting enough milk. Any advice?

Leah,
That drove me crazy when my daughter's feeding schedule changed. I'd try feeding her every 2 hrs and she totally wasn't interested....sometimes I wish she could just tell me when and what she wants lol And now if there's to many people around forget it...she's way to interested in them, oi..

Thanks. I think I figured out that the reason she won't eat is because she is actually getting fuller now that my supply has increased. She used to eat every hour and a half to 2 hours and now she goes 2 and a half to 3 hours. She does get very distracted at times though and now she is starting to reach up and try and play with my face. Such little boogers! Well, thanks again and good luck on your end.

i had this same problem with my son, and it was numerous things, it must be a 4 month old thing, lol he's 4 and a half months now and getting much better.

I was feeding him in the loungeroom and he would get distracted by the tv so the bottle will be in his mouth but he wouldnt suck, so i moved rooms (to my bedroom) this worked well, then he would flap his arms around and knock the bottle, and if he touched the bottle he would automatically open his mouth as he is used to having his hands in his mouth, so i would put one arm under mine while holding him and a wrap underneath him and wrap it around his other arm and pull down a bit so his arm was out of sight. This also helped. Then he would try and get my attention, by making noises and talking while drinking because i was looking at him, so i also do not make eye contact with him either.

The other thing it could be is silent reflux, so they do not show commen signs of normal reflux but might drink alot of their bottle at the start then not seem hungry for the rest. The other thing is, have you checked inside her mouth for thrush? or maybe when you are bottle feeding her try warming it up a bit more than usual.

All babies are different, but i was really struggling with my son and feeding time was becoming a nightmare, these things may not work for your daughter but its worth a try. also keep an eye on her weight, so start weighing her weekly so if she is dropping weight you know its a problem otherwise if she doesnt drop weight she should be fine, just check with your doctor if your unsure.

Good luck!!
