My 5 month old has been eating 6 oz of formula since she was about 2 months old. But this weekend she started to only eat 3-5 oz. She's not acting sick or anything. Should I be worried that my 5 month old is not eating as much?

My 5 month old baby girl has had diarrhoea for the last 5 days dr says she's ok n plenty hydrated but she is lucky to drink a bottle every 10 hours and it worries me dr says its ok as long as I keep her fluids up n she's just not happy n sleepy going back to dr tomorrow just wanted sum input

hi all...
my boy will be turning 5 months next week.. he is exclusively breastfed and does not eat for more than 5 minutes... i'm worried... :'(
any help...????

Hmmm my 5 month old is eating less these past two days and has been really sleepy and always just wants to sleep. She gets really angry when i dont put her down for a nap, its strange to me because all day she keeps yawning and yawning even if she has been sleeping all night and most of the day.

my baby also responds as your baby too,you should try to start giving him/her some solids foods she will start to eat a little because she didn't know how to grind n swallow food,or maybe the best things is to go to your babies pediatrician.n ask if is good or bad to stat giving your baby a solid food mine i start giving my baby a smash banana n a baby food

I am so glad I read these posts as I was worried about my son as he has started eating less some days. He still seems happy and has no temperature, so Im guessing he has just slowed in his growth spurt and is related to the fact he is teething! He usually has 7oz every 3-4 hours but has recently started only having 4 oz some bottles and then refuses the rest! He is 5months and 4 days old.

I took my son to the doctor's when started eating very little. She said not to worry because he probably just wasn't growing at that time. The doctor said only to worry if he becomes lathargic. After two weeks his eating habits suddenly grew to beyond their previous levels. Once he starting eating well again we decided it was time to start solids. Phillip is now a bottomless pit for food.

Thanks guys! We found that her second tooth started coming in just days after she stopped eating normally, but she's back on track now, so I guess that's what was causing her dis-interest.

My baby is also 5 months old and she stared not eating as much as usual about a week ago..I realized she is teething so no need to be worried,, the doc told me that when teething, they loose some interest in food,,

My baby is doing the same! Im a first time mum and this is really worrying me. Im in Australia and at the moment we are having 40 degree days. very very hot but my baby just isnt interested in feeding. Shes happy until feed time when I have to fight to give her a bottle.

I wouldn't worry too much as long as bubba isi putting on weight and has around 6 wet nappies a day. Check with your baby health clinic if you are concerned.

wow My son has been eating 6 oz bottles since he was about 2 months old he'll be 5 months on Thursday and the past 2 days he hasn't been eating right i also started him on solids about a month ago. He on;y eating anywhere from 3 to 5 oz. I thought they only went through growth spurts at certain times like 2 weeks, 2months, then 6 i think it was?

my daughter actually started doing the same thing the past 4 days, and refuses her cereal as well, and also is not sleeping at all, so i'm not either, she has no fever, and is still happy most of the day just she wont nap and gets more fussy when shes tired than usual, i believe it's teething!

Thanks guys :) I'm just so used to her being such a big eater and barely being able to wait for her next feeding that this threw me for a loop, lol.

Yes exactly what Andrea said! They have grown spurts and sometimes all they want to do is eat and sleep and then they have their time when they are up more or eat less. Every baby is this way. Don't be worried. My son is also 5 months and last week he wasn't eating his normal 6 oz bottles and this week he is eating 8 oz bottles. lol

You should not be worried at all that your 5 month old is not eating as much. She has slowed on her growth sprit. Mine goes through it about every other week. It will pick back up in a week or two when she hits a growth spirt again.
