My Little guy will also be 5 months old on the 21st, and he has been sleeping through the night since he was 7 weeks old. Every kid is different. My son is formula fed, so that might make a difference, and we also put him to bed awake, and I think that makes a difference. We put him to bed between 8:30-9:30 and he sleeps until 8:30-9:30 the next morning. It was hard for me to put him to bed awake, but my husband pushed it, and I'm glad he did. Kids have to learn how to self soothe and fall asleep on their own. Good luck if your little one still gets up in the middle of the night!

mine has been sleeping though the night since 5 weeks. we still have her in our room and we go to bed as a family at 9pm. i just put her in her bed and she puts herself to sleep. she usually doesn't get up until 9am. my neighbor's son was born 2 days after her, and he will not go to sleep on his own and he still gets her up at least 3 times a night. i think it just depends on the baby.

My son has been sleeping through the night since he was 2 months old from 12:00 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. and at 3 months from 9:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. I was desperate the first two months and was on the verge of insanity. My friend recommended the book Baby Wise. It explained a lot and teaches you to get your baby to sleep through the night. I saw a difference in the first few days! I HIGHLY recommend it.

My son doesnt' sleep through the nite, I got into the habit of putting him in his swing, that way he would sleep longer, I've now slowly got him too sleep in his crib during all naps and for about four hours at the beginning of the nite, then it's too the swing, This week I'm starting to put him in after his nite feeding, so we'll see what happens. But my son gets up for one or two feeding between 10-8. I give him his last bottle at 9ish, a full 8oz. But sometimes he sleeps longer, sometimes not soo much. Good luck

My son is 5 months old and he started sleeping through from 4 weeks he goes to bed at 7pm and wakes up at 6 in the morning. During the day he has two naps the first one from 9am-10pm the second from 11am-2pm. He has 3 bottles a day and three solids. I also found that by using natural lavender products in his bath it calms him down for the night.

My little girl is 5 months she used to get up through the night, but she sleeps great now. When you hear your son gets up at night try waiting 5 min he may surprise you and fall back to sleep. My daughter would wake up at night and I would go to her right away even when she was just giving out little cries, I started waiting a few min and sure enough she just rolled over and went back to sleep.

My 5 month old has been sleeping through the night since 8 weeks....But she is a belly sleeper. She WILL NOT sleep on her back....if she does it is for ten minutes and then is back up! We had a week stretch were she got up to eat but then it was back to sleeping all night. She is usually alseep by 9pm and I have to wake her up in the am to go to day care...it is really nice! Hope he starts sleeping through the night for you!

my girl sleeps for a good 8 hours, wakes up to eat, then goes back to sleep for 2 or3 more hours, she's been doing that since she was under a week old though. the hospital had me waking her up every 2 hours to feed her, but once i asked her dr. he said if she can sleep, let her sleep, plus not waking her up so much at nights helps her know the difference between night and day.
she's 4mo. now, almost 5

Have you started him on any form of solids as yet?

Hi Megan,
My baby is 5 months old and has never slept through a whole night. A good night for me is if she only wakes up once (usually around 2 or 3am). I figure she is a baby and is still young and growing so probably still needs the food. Most nights she wakes twice. I read the replies and thought we must have the only babies who don't sleep through!!! My baby is an absolute angel every day so I figure I can't have it all!!!
Good luck - eventually they will sleep through.

my son just turned 4 months and what ive used to get him to sleep is music. usually classical music. he didnt start sleeping thru the night fully til 6 weeks but started at 4. the only way we ( my mom and i) could get him to sleep at night at all was by using classical music. then again he was exposed to it too when i was pregnant. try it whether its a cd or on the radio... hope this helps!

Well my son is 5 months old and can sleep for 12+ hours iat a time but normally can make it 7.5 before waking to eat. My daughter woke up it seemed like every 3 - 4 hours until she was like 18 months. I think it just depends on the child.

My son sleeps through most of the night he goes to bed around 10 and wakes up around 6, if your having problems with feeding at night you should let him cry it out, after a week he wont depend so much on a bottle, atleast thats what my pedatrician told him. He shouldnt be feeding twice though you need to cut in down to one, and than cut it down to none at night.

Hi
My daughter was 5 months on Jan 11 and no she is not sleeping through the night. She has twice but my husband and I recently went to the UK for Christmas and we are often out and about so I know we are to blame. I also still breastffeed her when she wakes so it has become a bit of a habit. She usually wakes up about every 3.5 hrs so last night, I went to bed late (11:30) and got her up for a quick feed and then she only woke me up once at 3:30. Her wake ups are normally only for a few minutes but last night she wouldn't settle for an hour!(I'm trying to NOT feed her but not willing to let her cry it out either so ssshhhing and rocking takes longer the BF)
Is your son?

Mine has been sleeping through the night for about a month and a half. I put her to bed at around 10:30 and she doesn't usually wake up before 7am. She has slept as long as 11 hours strait before. But each baby is different. I still swaddle mine and she falls asleep on her own in her crib. One thing that i think made a difference is that i keep her room totally dark at night so if she wakes up and opens her eyes, there's nothing to keep her awake to look at. That made an immediate difference in how long she slept. Plus she has reflux so she has rice cereal in her bottles so that might help her sleep.

My daughter has been sleeping throughout the night for about 2 1/2 months. She turned 5 months on the 5th. It started out with her going back and forth and now she is sleeping through the night most nights. I believe it's because I started feeding her infant cereal and baby food (per her doctor) and she drinks the Enfamil A.R. with Lipil formula. She eats and goes down shortly after at around 10pm and usually wakes for a bottle around 5 or 6am. She goes back to sleep and then wakes around 8 or 9am.

He goes to bed at 8pm, the wakes at 1am for feed, again at 4am but we stopped feeding him and just give him a bit of water now and the up for morning at 6! We did better last night as he didn't wake at 4 so hopefully that will continue and as he started on a bit of solids, hoping we can soon eliminate the 1am feed! fingers crossed cz i a so tired!

My nearly 5 month old little girl has been sleeping through since she was 8 weeks old. I am trying to get her to sleep earlier and for longer! Currently she goes to bed around 8.30pm ish and gets me up at 6am ish, she has woken a few times at 5.00am ish but I feed her in her room and put her straight back in bed where she stays until 7.00am ish! When she was 8 weeks I was feeding her at 9.30 - 10.00pm and she went through until 7.00am ish, so she isn't that far off the mark at the moment!
