Anyone else's 10 month old standing or walking already?

My oldest walked right at a year and my youngest was walking at 9 months. Barefoot and a lot of carpet helped. They can stand and walk better barefoot because they can feel their feet better and the carpet of course helps cushion falls.

My son just turned a year old on Monday (8/27) and he's been walking without furniture for over a month he started walking along the furniture at between 8 1/2 and 9 months. At 8 months he tried to figure out how to stand up with out the help of mommy! Right now as I'm writing this my son is walking pretty fast in and out of his playroom. He has just found out if he turns his feet he can turn himself around. He also in the last week figured out that he can squat instead of sitting to get a toy. they grow up way to fast. We all need to remember that all babies develop faster then others do and they will do it when they ate ready.

My son is 10 1/2 months now. He stood up at 8 months with out pulling up and would just stand around. He took a few steps by 9 months but stood around a lot still. Now he is walking a lot without holding hands or pushing toys. I think he stood so much to work on his balance. He is a funny little boy! The other day he made my husband chase him after bath time to get a diaper on him. So now that is is walking we are in trouble lol

My son is 10 months old and is standing up on his own and walking with the assistance of mommy and furniture. He has a few walking toys which he uses ... won't be long now before I'll be missing the days of having to do everything for him.

my little girl is standing on her own and will walk around the furniture. She not yet ready to go it alone but I dont think it will be too long as she is desperate to play with her elder brother and sister x

my son just 10 months on the 22nd june. he is standing up by holding onto the funiture, even my legs. he gets himself up by holding onto anything. i am noticing now that he can stand own his own for good minute or two without holding anything. i think its just a balance thing with babies once they are comfortable they will take steps for themselves. my son does take steps if you hold his hands, but i am just waiting for him to do dat when ever he feels ready.

my daughter just turned 10months! Since she was 9months she was pulling herself up and standin up and trying to take steps and about a week later she was taking a couple steps then falling! Now she is all over the place! We coaxed her with her favorite toys. Or like music and dancing! she also has a favorite "baby" picture of herself and she will walk to that anytime! Just anything they are interested in helps them want to walk to it!! =) But once they start there is NO turning back! goodluck!!

My sons bday is Aug 11. He walks!! He really does, it suprises me, but im not kidding!! He started the same way, just holding onto furniture and walking along the sides of them. then he would get brave and go from our couch to the chair...its pretty close together. within about 2 weeks hes walking all over! Its not like hes running. he still falls, but he loves to walk. hes even standing on his own (without holding on to something). its pretty exciting! Cant wait for your little one to start!

My little guy (will be 1 on 8/26) has been furniture cruising for a month and just starting walking behind the push toys a few weeks ago. Still learning to stand on his own. We just bought him is first "walking" shoes for the extra ankle support. 10 months is early as my daughter didn't walk till after she was 1.

hi, my daughter was born aug 18 she has been walking for 2 weeks now without support,i started by holding her hand and letting her make little steps and also pushing the baby walker..she now doesnt need my help she finds her way around..:)

my daugter is 10 months and shes been walking since she was about 8 months. When she started holding on to furniture and walking around it we got her one of those push walkers and she took off every where with it. just a suggestion that way they still have something to hold on to while they are learing to walk

my little angel she can stndon her own but she cannt walk yet...........she can walk but only the help of thngs we kept in the house she take the supprt of that thngs and can wlk ............but its very good time ............

My little girl is just three days younger than your boy. She is tearing up the living room now. She has been walking for almost a month now. Once she started to cruise the furniture, we would grab one of her favorite toys and get her attention. When she reached out for the toy it would be just out of reach and she would have to take a step forward. As she became more steady, we would be farther and farther away from her.

Well my daughter she's also 10 1/2 mnths and her birthdays August 9th and shes standing and walking. What I did was i got things that she really liked to play with like my cellphone and hold it in front of her and eventually she came after it,but hold on momma he'll eventually get it.

My nine and a half month old just started walking. He has been standing around furniture for about two months but it was only about a week between his first solo steps and full on walking!!

My daughter has just turned 10 months on the 29th june she has been pulling herself up and walking around things for the past month... she isnt walking properly yet as has not got her balance properly but trys to walk away anyway as she is very strong minded as she wants to be up and around with my son who is 2 years old... she walks holdin onto my hands or even with the chicco push along walk n play... she is very stable at this but cannot do it herself just yet but i give her a week or two...

my little one is 10 months old and she is standing confidently holding on to furniture and taking the odd step here and there however she has no idea what to do when i hold her hands and try to get her to walk. she lifts both legs and taps them on the floor looking uncannily like a thunderbird hehehehe. my friend has a child who is 10 days older than mine and he has been walking with help for a couple of months now it wont be long before he is off on his own. im not worried they all develop at different stages/ages and they will soon discover for themselves what they need to do to get mobile x

my son whos birthday is aug 10th. he has been walking along furniture since he was 8 months or so. and on his 10 month mark is when he just let go of the couch and started walking.took a few steps and fell. but he did it all on his own. now he is walkin all over the place.

My daughter is standing and cruising the furniture. She'll also walk with us holding her hands or when she is pushing her walking toys, but she hasn't been brave enough to do it alone yet...but I know it's coming, and we just keep encouraging her and clapping to show she's doing a good job!!

My daughter is 10 months old, and much like your son, holds onto furniture when walking. She'll take two or three steps towards the couch, and lean forward for the couch to catch her. lol We've found that when we pretend we're not watching, she takes afew steps on her own. When we pay attention, she gets too excited and tries to jump up and down whilst holding onto the furniture. So we're finding that pretending we dont see her seems to work as she's focussed on concentrating on walking unassisted.

They will start when they are ready. My son Who is 4 in October started walking at 9 1/2 months after only a week he would walk a long way on his own but even now he is very confident in what he does and climbs everything. My daughter who is 1 on 2nd august will walk holding one hand but is a bit unsteady. loves to walk around furniture and tries to stand on her own just the balance is not quite there yet. Im happy to wait a bit longer as with my son he got into so much mischief once he got more mobile im happy for my little girl to stay a baby a little longer yet lol.

My daughter was born on the same day (Aug. 3rd) she has been on the move since about 6 months old and she has been cruising for a few months now. She finally took her first step on the 15th of June (10.5 months old) and can not be stopped now. She hardly crawls. My son on the other hand didn't even move until just before 9 months even though he had been crusing for a while we just had to stand him up next to something. 2 weeks after he started crawling he walked. Everyone takes their own time. I would have preferred my kids to wait a bit. By the time my son was 1 yr I was getting tired of chasing him already... :) Now I have 2 kids that walk away in different directions :)

My daughter's dob is 8-17 and she has been standing for some time however she just started to walk without holding on to things about 2 weeks ago. She doesn't go far 3 or 4 steps then falls but she gets right back up and tries again.

Man son who will be 10 months tomorrow started walking 2 months ago but he was doing it off and on. But about 2 weeks ago he just stood up off the floor one day and started walking. Now that's all he wants to do. My child motivated himself to walk that day and I'm so proud of him!!

Hi I have triplets and one of my sons has started pulling up on everything and is walking beside it. The other 2 will pull up on things but don't walk yet around stuff. We do have a walker and the 2 that don't want to walk on stuff will walk in that. Their bday is Aug.3rd too! Good luck!

My Daughter was born on the 2nd of august and is walking and has been for about 4 weeks.. If he'll only walk holding your hands, let him, thats how my daughter started, she fell to her knees alot but its all about getting his balance,

My son just turned 10 months on the 24th and he has been pulling himself up on furniture for about a month now and he stands up on the side of his walker ...which just last week he started walking around in! He is very proud of himself as are his father and I! No steps unassisted yet but hes working on it! Im sure it wont take too long for them to pick it up!!

My son is also 10 months, bday august 2..... he started off walking along the wall and still does.... lol.... but at times he will take a few steps by him by stepping away from the wall. sometimes i would stand him up and once he has balance let him go but when u do this stand in front of him b/c if he knows that you are behind him he may throw himsefl back or sit down.... but stand/sit in front of him stand him a small distance away from you giving him enough space to actually take steps.... then u have to talk to him and encourage him to walk towards you ex. "come on big boy, come to mommy... you can do it" and eventually he'll take some steps.... but at the same time this will only be done once he trusts himself enough to actually walk... Good luck

My daughter just turned ten months yesterday and has been standing and walking around furniture for about a month. Yesterday she really decided to take off and now is walking from room to room and on occasion falling down but then getting right back up!

My son was standing up against thing around 7 months, and started walking up against things around 7 1/2 months. He finally started walking at 9 1/2 months by himself, and ya can't get him to stop. He doesn't even want to hold on to anyone's hand anymore, he is so independent. He just all of a sudden took off by himself one day. But ever since he has been lil he likes to stand, he was standing before he was crawling! Every baby is different, your baby will just take off one day when he feels ready.

My sons birthday is 8/15 and he started walking at 8 1/2 months. He is now 10 months and he's just about running, climbing stairs and walking in circles. He liked to walk with his tike car in the way beginning and just began walking on his own, u should try that. And when they see other little kids walking, they want to do the same thing.

My 10 month old hasn't started standing let alone walking yet.
I will 'stand' her up, when we play on the floor, but her motor development was expected to be slow as she spent 4 months in plaster from her belly to toes.

my baby turned 10 month today,but he started standing n walking with support at the beginning of nineth month. just give them time n slowly they will start walking on their own. by the middle of nineth month, he was taking 3-4 steps on his own. n by the end he was taking 10-11 steps on his own..:)

My son was born 1st Aug and started standing on his own a few weeks ago, and last week he took his first steps! It's all so exciting :) To encourage him to take steps I just sit close to where he's standing so he only has to take one step to get to me and he gets better every time.

My daughter is 10 1/2 months as well. her Bday is Aug 5th. She started standing on her own when she was around 8 1/2 months. She took her first steps on June 4th and she has been fully walking for almost a week now. She pretty much goes everywhere.

My son is 10 months old (almost 11 months) and he started taking a couple of steps about a month or so ago. He's been standing for longer than that, but he's still uneasy walking. He'll take like 3 or 4 steps before sitting back down. He walks with such balance though if I let him hold onto my finger. I try to get him to walk by standing him up facing towards me and he'll take a few steps in my direction.

My son is 10 months old now and he started taking his first steps when he was 9 months old. In the beginning he would hold on to things and walk, like the wall or furniture. but it lasted only for couple weeks now he can walk quite steadily without any support.
The key is to leave them alone and let them do their own thing, they will learn to stand up fall down and start walking by themselves.

My son is 10 1/2 months as well and he is doing the exact same thing, He pulls himself up on hard surfaces,but will not walk on his own. I look at it this way,when our boys are ready then they will walk on there own. In the mean time if you hear of anything to get our little guys moving ,please let me know.

How about my daughter started doing that, and we put her in one of those walker chairs (you can get one cheap at a thrift store or resale baby place) and as soon as we started doing that, she was ALL OVER the place in that thing. I guess it gives her a bit of independence! And she loves it. She'll follow me all over the house lol... you should try it. it's cute! I bet she'll be walking in a couple of weeks, if not by her first birthday (aug. 4)!

My little one has been standing since 7 months uses furniture and anything else he can use to travel around the room =) he can stand alone for about 5-8 seconds and will walk around if he is pushing something or holding hands...sometimes i let him hold only one finger and i don't really help him stand on his own but i guess he just likes the support of holding on to mommy's finger =D I would say just keep practicing with him, if you need to go to another room instead of carrying him just hold his hands and let him walk with you, practice makes perfect ;) and they need lots of it =D

My son was 10mths on the 21st june, he is walking on his own quite well, still a bit unbalanced at times, I think he is young to be walking, as other bubs that i know around the same age arn't quite there yet, but as our other kids are 11 and 8 I think he really tries to keep up with them, he follows them everywhere.
