My son is 10 1/2 months (his bday is Aug 3rd) and he just started standing on his own! I cant get him to take any steps with out holding his hands and walking with him. He'll also hold onto furniture and walk. Has anyone elses baby this age started standing or walking? If they are walking how did you get them to take that first step and how long did it take for them to be comfortable walking?

My daughter is 10 months and she walks holding on to furniture. She also stands independently without holding on to anything, but she isn't walking yet. You have to motivate them. For instance, if they like a certain toy, you stand a few feet away and you call them to come get it. That stimulates them.
Enjoy your little one!

My daughter is 10 mos old. She is so active on the play pen. A lot of people says that my baby has strong bones because the way they see her play doesn't seem appropriate at her age and that includes standing and walking. She can stand up right away on her own without touching the side rails on the play pen. I tried to count the number of steps she can make without the help of anything or from anyone and she was able to make 5 steps. She likes to walk around her pen while holding the side rails and she can do a series of rounds before sitting down again. She can jump from one place to another as well without hurting herself. :)

Hi there..woohoo congratulations on reaching that milestone
My little girl is 9.5 mths and was standing and pulling up on furniture at 7.5mths. she was cruising at 9mths and now just yesterday took 2 very tentative steps.....i think they wil do it at there own pace and they will know when they ave the balance to do so

My son was 10 months on the 15th and he has been cruising around the furniture since just before 7 months and in the last month or so has been trying to walk like crazy, and has been standing without holding on to anything. The past two weeks he has been walking on his own though, across the house and everything!! We motivated him by hanging on to something that he was really interested in and he would try his hardest to come and get it. Then when he would take even one step, we would praise it. The same for standing on his own, and standing up on his own which he has also been doing for about a week now!

Yeah whenever i get something he really wants and hold it away from him he will drop down and just crawl toward it. LOL! I love my baby and isnt it amazing how fast all our babies are growing up?

My son is 10 1/2 months old (Aug 6) and he started taking a few steps the other day! He can take aobut 6-8 steps before falling. Now when he is holding on to furniture he can almost run!! I think it is just important to encourage them when they start walking but, let them go at their own pace. For my son he just had to build the confidence before he wanted to let go!!

My baby girl started walking at 9 months old.. her motivation came from her two older sister's 5 and 8 years old.. she jus wanted to follow them EVERYWHERE so she was determined to walk.. even in the last month she has picked up her pace very quick jus to keep up with her sister's lol basically runs now sooo cute.. My suggestion would be to hold something he really really wants in front of him bout a meter away.. like a bottle when he's hungry.. that'll usual motivate them to walk ;-))

My son is 10 months old and has only stood unassisted once. But I think a lot of it is because we have dogs who run by and knock him over so he's a little nervous. But as of furniture surfing he's an expert! He will chase down the dogs from the couch and tackle them. As of walking on his own...not too much! But he loves to stand and then clap at himself as he falls over! :) What a ham!

my daughter will be 10 1/2 months on Sunday and she's been walking on her own for about a month now. just keep encouraging him they all move at their own pace and sometimes if they have a child just little bit older to look up to that helps too.

M 10 month old baby girl isn't walking yet. But she can stand up on her own and walks when being held and when holding to furniture. I think she is wary of falling because she once tried a step but then she lost her balance and fall off the floor. Since then, she never attempted making a step unless being held or with secured support. I hope she gets to walk before her 1st birthday on August 8. :))

My daughter is ten months old and has been able to pull herself up to a standing position for a good month, but she refuses to walk along things. Even if I hold her hand she won't walk! So i think your son is doing great

My son is at the point where he will walk holding onto furniture and also stand without holding onto anything. He doesn't walk independantly yet. We just try to encourage him to walk by walking holding onto his hands, getting him a push toy for walking, and also we clap when he stands or tries to walk to let him know we like what he's doing
