my daughter is 7 months old. she already has 2 teeth on the bottom that are completely out and 1 on the top recently broke through. i noticed that she started to grind them together. she's probably just doing this because she just figured out that she can and it's something new but i'm thinking it can't be good for the new tooth that just broke out.

anyone else going through this?
thanks

Yes my son does this too - and it also drives me crazy! I have a dentist's appointment for him next week and will ask about this to see if it really has any sort of damaging effects other than just plain getting on our nerves! lol

My older one grinds her teeth so much that she chipped one. I took her to the dentist and they said that most babies and kids grind their teeth and it is nothing to worry about. It does freak you out a little though :-)

I have two children, my eldest is 2 and a half, she had 8 teeth by 8 months and use to grind them all the time, however, now that she has a full set of teeth i can see no signs of damage. My baby boy is 7mnths and has just cut his 5th tooth and has been grinding them for weeks, I think it is just because they r new to them and when they discover they can grind them they just do it cause they can.....

My daughter used to do this. She is going to be 7 months old next week and her 7th and 8th teeth just broke through. She started getting them early and one day I noticed that she was grinding them together... it made a terrible noise and just made me cringe! I gave her a thin washcloth to chew on, because I figured if she was going to grind them with that in there, it might not cause as much tooth damage. She did stop the grinding, but now loves to chew on everything... washcloths, blankets, clothing.. you name it. She also likes to bite things and rip them out of her mouth, similar to a dog. haha. I am sure that cannot be good for her teeth... but she likes it.
