My son who is 16 months old does not ever seem to catch a break when it comes to falling, bumping into things, and me accidently cathcing his finger in the bedroom door (this just happened). I feel so bad when he hurts himself and i know he is just a boy but I do not want people to think I am a bad Momma because he has a few bruises. Does anyone else have this problem? Should I feel as bad as I do?

we have a behind the couch table, and probably once a month she runs full speed into it, you would think she would know it was there. just yesterday she went to shut her bedroom door and slammed it into her own forehead. things happen.

Ya my 16 month year old is sporting a black eye from losing her balance while on a box. She keeped climbing it and my husband went to get her and startled her and she fell into the computer desk. I felt like it was our falt being I should never of had that box there but accadents happen. It just does not seem like a 1 year old should be running around with a black eye.

Ha ha, my son walks around with bruises all over his head all the time. Every single one was caused by him. The closer we get to two the worse the tantrums get and we have officially evolved to banging our head on the ground when we're told "no" or "don't do that". You really shouldn't feel bad, it's not your fault and sometimes, no matter how well you watch them, they fall down. People probably won't think you're a bad mom, especially if they're parents themselves. Just don't worry about it and take each bump and bruise in stride, he'll be ok and you'll learn to handle it better too, just give him a few seconds after each fall. It gives you a second to take a breath and it gives him a second to decide if it's worth crying about.

bumps and bruises are completely normal for kids this age. My daughter has little bruises all over her legs all the time because she is crazy! lol... She has absolutely no fear and wants to climb up everything and jump off everything, she is a complete nut, but she is also hilarious. Just watch him the best you can so he don't really hurt himself and don't worry about the little bumps and bruises throughout the day.

no. getting bumps and bruises is part of being a kid. my son falls down and trips all the time, and i have gotten his fingers accidentally stuck in a door before. he'll cut back on his accidents as he learns more about what he can and can't do
