I have an evenflo symphony 65 with the sure latch system it runs about $200 and is rated for 5-100 lbs. We travel from ks to ny by car. She seems to love this carseat. I love the easy it has to go from one car to another with the sure latch system. It has a 5 pint and super easy to adjust. We live on a budget figured if we bought the different seat as she grew we would spend more than this carseat.

We plan on getting another for our boy that we are expecting in May.

I love my Britax, pricey but if you break it down for the amount of time they will use it not so painful. It rear sits till 35 pounds i think which is one of the top weights for rear seating best to leave them rear facing for as long as possible. Really easy to buckle them in and the strap to adjust the tightness of the straps is right between the legs in the front which is AWESOME!

we have the graco my ride 65 and I love it... it has a high side impact rating... 65 pounds for 5 point harness and its comfy my daughter can fall asleep in it and the sides keep her head front falling forward

We got the nautilus graco 65 and worked so good we bought a 2nd for my husbands car, cup holders supports up to 65 pounds really comfy seat so far, our son likes it most of the time although all children are different... Got it at BabiesRUs on sale from 160 to 120... Worth every penny :)

I love britax they have the heighest weight and height harnessing limits but are a bit pricy although you can find them on babycatalog.com for 207 a marathon 70 diapers.com has a faster shipping service and will price match it there is also the graco nautilus which harnesses to 65lbs then converts to a highback then backless booster for about 140 at walmart

Ok well I have an Eddie Bauer one the is a forward facing car seat that you can remove the harnesses later. My almost four year old is in it and its great! He outgrew the other forward facing carseat we had because he's really tall and this one adjusts to almost any height! We liked it so much wwe got it for my younger son too! Also they really aren't that expensive especially when you consider how many years you're getting out of it! I found mine at Target!

the graco smartseat is also number 2 in safety ratings, higher than any other seat out there except the sunshine radion.

The Graco Smartseat is amazing! We are completely satisfied with it, it has a base and you can switch from rear facing to front facing without reinstalling the base and you can switch it between cars. It goes from 5 lbs to 100 lbs (booster) and it is a 5 point harness. It is a little more expensive but babys r us has the trade in thing where you can get 25% off. Completely happy!!

I have the Graco My Ride 65 and am very happy with it. It's rather large, but it fit in my husbands mustang fine. It's got cup holders on both sides and lasts up to 65 pounds. We liked the first one so much we bought a second one for the other car. It has pretty good reviews and is a decent price. Good Luck!

If you are on a budget, like me, and can't see spending hundreds of dollars on a car seat, look at Target. I bought the Cosco Scenera for my daughter and it works great. Also the GRaco Sport works wonderful. Both car seats are under $100 and will last until your son is ready for a booster seat. Good luck!

we use the safety first air protect carseat. and i love it. its sooo plush too. the other day i was driving on the freeway and some guy decided her was gonna cut me off with no blinker and no clearing room. i had to swerve and hit my brakes really hard. it was far from a soft stop and my daughter slept right thru it!!

We did a lot of research for my son (he is now 3 yrs and 40 lbs) and we picked the Britax Boulevard - we love it. It is a big seat but our son has no issues with it. 5pt harness, side impact protection, and you can adjust for the height of the child while they are sitting in the seat. If you plan to have 3 seats eventually in your backseat or for the airplane there is others out there that are thinner but still good.

We have a Britex Marathon and I love it. It is one of the safest car seats out there. It is comfy, and the 5 point harness is easy to work unlike some that takes 10 mins to get a child in the car seat. Hope this helps.
