Cold remedies for 8 month old!!

Hi, just wondering if anyone has suggestions as to what I can do to help my daughter Kierra. She just turned 8 months last week and now she sounds like she has some chest congestion and a cough. I am right now only using a organic version of Vicks cream on her chest and have put a humidifier in her room. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had a baby with such symptoms and what you would do to get rid of it.

there isn't much recommended for children under 4 anymore - you can use benadryl it helps with some of the drainage so the cough is usually better, that is if your doc okay's it, it's dosed according to weight. The strips work the best, you can fold them and put them in by their cheek they absorb quick enough so they don't spit them out.
Becky had great suggestions with the NS spray and bulb and vaporizer. I know I was once told about the Vicks on their feet, be sure to put socks on her though, not sure if it really works or if it's a wise tale. Oh and another thing I found and love the Vicks plug in strips, works like a night light also, but they fill the entire room with Vicks smell, which I like if I have a cold

Humid air will help with the congestion. Running the shpwer for 5 minutes with the door closed and then shut it off and take the baby in could help. This will also loosen mucous in the nose.



Saline drops are another good option - it helps keep the nose moist inside and helps keep things loose.



They do have an infant's Vicks rub at the drug store. It is very mild and they instruct to rub the chest area with it.



A nose bulb gets the mucous out.
