My son is 7 1/2 month and not sitting up yet but my friends baby girl is 6 months and is sitting up...I'm not too worried about his development just curious

my son kyle is 8 month and still not siting up unaided on his own yet but rolling from back to front well lol where as my daughter was crawling at nearly 7 month i just think babys do things when they want to but i have been told boys are lazy compared to girls lol

I think so. I think girls do things quicker anyway. My daughter (8months) does alot, like talking (says mum, dad and egg(Dont no where the egg came from.), crawling/moving, feeding herself finger food etc..done everything quick smiled at 3 weeks (Wasnt wind).But her cousin doesnt do anything! and he is 7months old. he has only just (In the last few days) started to move up the changing mat. Wouldnt worry! :-)

Nope! My almost 8 month old has been sitting since 4 months, crawling since before 6 and cruises along the furniture like crazy! His cousin, who is almost a year just started crawling. The difference? Jack (mine) has a very proportionate body with a small head (everything in the 50%) while David (the cousin) is a big boy with a giant head1 (everything in the 75% plus!). Don't compare, it is not fair is my new motto!

sometimes the size of the infant has impact on when they hit milestones too. And how much they've had things like tummy time, to develop the neck, upper arms, chest and back muscles - I think girls talk sooner and hit a few other milestones sooner than boys - but I wouldn't be worried about it either. If he's rolling both ways, transferring objects hand to hand, looks for hidden stuff, babbles using lots of vowel and constantant sounds - the sitting up will come too

my son who is 8months old has been sitting by himself since he was 5 months old and started last weekend to sit up from being on his belly. my friends daughter is 9 and a half months old and sat alone after my son did and hasnt started being able to sit up from her belly yet!

Well he's far from preemie and he spends time in the floor I guess it depends on the individual like u saod

i don't think it's really about gender. i think it's more about the individual baby and also if they were premature or not and how much opportunity they have to practice

@ jessica how old is ur son....yea I think it is true too my baby can sit up for a few secs and then falls forward...lol....

I have heard that girls hit these milestones earlier, in general. My son can just now sit unsupported for short periods of time, but is wobbly still. But my friend's daughter could sit great unsupported at 4 months!
