My daughter Emillia just turned 6months on the 11th. We are having such a problem with her getting herself to sleep at night. She will be good during the day and we just have to have a little convencing to get her to sleep but then she is out for her good 2 naps during the day. But when it comes to putting her to bed at night and trying to teach her how to go to sleep on her own is a losing battle. We do the whole rutine thing and give her a bath, lotion, bottle and then usually she goes to sleep so I put her to bed but then about and hour later she wakes up and then cries for hours upon end cause she cant get herself to sleep. I try to do the whole 5 min intervals of going in and trying to pat her back and sooth her without picking her up but nothing works, she just screams more. I always make sure that nothing is wrong, clean diaper, feed, not hurting and I know she can sleep through the night cause she has been doing it at times when she was so tired that she just stayed alseep.
I know part of the problem is my fault cause she has sleeping on our bed for a good 2 months cause I was nursing and it was so much eaiser but now that she is old enough I want her to be able to sleep in her own bed and not be so used to nursing at night. I know I have wiened her enough from the breast at night that she doesnt need it.
Does anyone have any ideas of how to teach her to go to sleep on her own. We have been trying the whole cry it out thing but it breaks my heart for her to be crying for hours when I do.
