my daughter started talking a lot around that age, and by 18 months was talking in full sentences. People were amazed that they could hold proper conversations with her. My son is now 21 months and it's only recently that he's started talking a lot. He has had words that he's said for a long time, but now he's finally starting to string them together and use a large range of words (but a lot of people wouldn't know what he's saying). Just goes to show that they all develop differently - and it's pretty normal for a first child to start talking a lot earlier than a second, as they are getting all that one on one time, being spoken to constantly. The second child doesn't get as much of that, and are also doing a lot of their learning by listening to another child.

My son Aaden doesn't say any REAL words yet. He babbles and says Mama, Baba, and is starting to say gaga.... But don't worry, yours will say it soon enough! My husband teases me and says "he is saying mama baba" because he wants YOU to make him a bottle! lol

My son, Kai, is 9 mos. old. Everything is dada, daddy, da, dadadadada, etc. No mommy, mama, or anything else resembling "mom". Oh well, the hugs make up for it. :)

my son is 9 months old and can say mama and dada, but only does it in passing. He'll rarely say it to us, unless he's upset and wants me... then I hear Mumm mumm mummmmm. He does however mimic the word "Hi".

Nope, not walking yet, but he's crawling everywhere we'll let him and pulling up on everything and anything. He does cruise around inside his crib and playpen by holding on to the railings and working his way around. He's also starting to climb. True walking won't be far behind! How's Bella doing with this?

My Daughter Abigail has been saying mama since 5 months. I think the reason is since she was born I would say hundreds of times every day "say ma ma" . She started saying Dada at 8 months. I guess just repeat to Bella over and over again "mama". Hope this helps!

My almost nine month old son doesn't say real words yet but he babbles on and on. Most of the time his babble sounds like dada over and over, which makes his daddy happy lol. So it's either dada or he grunts and growls which I think he gets from his older brother running around acting like a dinosaur all the time haha. But my older son didn't say distinct words til he was around 10 months old and he didn't say mama until he was about a year old... so no worries she'll get around to saying mamma!

Our little girl loves to babble. :) She will say mommm, momma, da-da-da, la, na, nana, lala, ba and sometimes just start making a buch of noises all at once. I love it!!! I don't really think she knows who is who yet but when she says mommm or momma I always say "what honey" lol.... :) She loves to give kisses to the baby in the mirror and will give us kisses and she waves bye bye. She now drops things just to hear them hit the floor and watch us pick them up. lol..... :)

My dauther, Yara, will be 10 months on the 1st...she started saying Papa at 5 months, then mama short after, she picked up baba at 7 months and dada at 8. She stopped saying Mama unless she really wants me! Don't worry, they hit milestones at different times, I'm actually wowed at how much yours can say...I've been trying to teach her hi & bye for several months now with no results!

Hi Priscilla -- my little guy is just 9 months old and says the same things as your Bella with slight variations: "Hi Dad" (to anyone), cat, and hot (or "hot-ta!"). He loves to hear the words mommy and mama, but I have yet to hear them from him except when he's VERY unhappy about something, and then it's just a muh-muh-mmm type combo. He did go through a short phase when he would babble several syllables all at once (ah-ba-la-ba-LA-ba-la), but now seems to be more interested in observing us talk. We're teaching him English and Spanish simultaneously, too, which will certainly create some interesting word combinations as we move along!

Good morning Priscilla. My daugher is 9 months old. She can say Ma, Mama, Dada, Baba, she can wave to say hi or goodbye. Your daughter will say mama in her own time. In fact when she does begin to say it, she may call you so often, that you may consider changing your name. lol.

So far my daughter is crawling...she can sit up on her own and she can pull herself up and stand and walk holding on to anything...now she just leans alittle...she only holds on with one hand and sometimes only grasps with 2 fingers to hold on!!! she has stood but for no more than mb 5-10 seconds!!! She plays catch and she eats everything in sight and only has a half of a tooth lol!! She claps hands when she does something good and if u say YAYYY or Good Girll she also claps!!!! If you ask her how big is bella? she lifts her hand high over her head as i say soooooooo big....then she claps!!! She plays peek a boo with her daddy all the time!!! She really is veryy good and a veryy smart baby!!! Shes a blesing!!!! I was just curious as to where everyone elses children were at!!! Thanks so much for all of ur feedback!!

[deleted account]

My son says mama when he's whining or moaning about something lol... He says dada when he's in a "funny" mood... he also says something that sounds like a chickens noise... bwabwabwabuckabwa... and many other syllables in different combinations, although his fav noise is still the toot noise (tongue between lips and blow) and he does it until his face is covered in drool!

my daughter is 9months now and she says 'daddy' and 'nana' a lot although there was a week wen she was also saying mama but i've discovered that if she is in a talkative mood she can try and imitate whatever simple word you tell her to say.
