Does your baby have a favorite song/television show/movie?

When it's play time we always have some type of background sound. Whether it be a CD (preferably Rockabye Baby tunes or The Beatles) or sometimes we put an educational musical show on (Little Einstiens, SuperWhy, etc) and believe it or not we sometimes throw on Lord Of The Rings (either the cartoon versions or the first movie because it's the most peaceful).

My twin boys love dancing to music and the sometimes point to letters on the screen during SuperWhy (a spelling show) and they have learned to clap from LOTR. I'm not saying plop them down in front of a TV 24/7, but I hate silence, especially when it's supposed to be play time, fun time.

Anyone else have any CDs or anything their babies love?

My son LOVES Waybuloo and In The Night Garden. Especially Night Garden - he gets so excited when the opening sequence comes on. It's on at 6.20pm so we put it on for him to watch with his last bottle of the day before bath, story and bed. I don't think a little bit of telly does them any harm at all - I think it's only when it's used as a 'babysitter' and is on all the time that it can create issues with concentration. Some programmes jump so fast from one sequence to another that it can mean that they get used to the instant gratification and become bored easily. But that's just my theory.

Sounds like you have your hands full Kathy! :) But it also sounds like a ton of fun! Kudos to you for all you do for those six outstanding children!
Also, Lord of The Rings is amazing! Completely make believe with all the orcs and monsters and even the hobbits :), but at the same time it's got wonderful music in the background. I grew up with the cartoons and the books and these new movies are pretty awesome and I am so happy our boys love it too :)

I don't believe what some say about "TV ruining children" or that it doesn't help educate in some way or another. As long as they are active and living a normal life, I don't see anything wrong with loving television or movies or music for that matter. I grew up on Star Wars and Fraggle Rock so I watched my good share of it and graduated college and am very very happy. So, who knows. :) Thanks for your input girly!!!

my son likes max and ruby and yo gabba gabba. he also loves to dance and will dance to pretty much anything, even the songs from the commercial. i haven't really played any cd's for him, but i sing songs to him, like tewinkle twinkle little star, if you're happy and you know it (from which he learned to clap and say happy) and you are my sunshine. i have also started singing the abc's to him.

Leyla loves watching yo gabagaba. When it comes on the tv she will stand as close to the screen as possible and just stare at it. She loves to dance to it as well

We're big into playing music often, too. We have and frequently play sing-along CDs and Fisher-Price lullabies and classical CDs, but our little guy's favorites, hands-down, are a series of CDs with music written by Sandra Boynton (of greeting card and kids' book fame) and performed by a variety of singers. We have all four CDs that are available: Rhinoceros Tap, Philadelphia Chickens (which won numerous awards), Dog Train (her rock-n-roll album), and Blue Moo Diner (her most recent). They are full of really adorable, clever songs and can be purchased with read-along books from places like Amazon. I can't recommend them highly enough!

Well, no one wants their kid to watch tv. I don't mean 'Who sits their kid infront of the boob tube and leaves them to rott"...
We only have it on as background sounds during everyday play. It's entertaining to all, if just for the music or the bright colors.

I hear all the time that TV kills the brain and that if a child watches TV they won't learn as quickly. But that's why we limit it and only use it for dancing tunes or for educational shows (such as SuperWhy, a spelling show, Sid the Science Kid, a science show, Team Oomie Zoomie is about math and Little Einstiens is about music and art)

But the music channel works! That sounds awesome! I just burn CDs myself for dancing time! Cool!

TV commercials she will pay attention to......but we are not wanting her to watch TV. Sometimes I'll put on the kids music listening channel on TV and they have a variety of artists and songs there.

That's funny because my son used to love The Lord Of The Rings. My oldest daughter loved The Titanic, my other older daughter loved Disney movies, my 1 year old daughter loves disny channel, Hannah Montana, Demi Lovato, and The Lonas Brothers anytime she hears them sing she stops and goes to the TV, Little Einsteins, The Imagination Movers, and Phineas and Ferb, my oldest daughter no kidding would sit at 1 1/2 to 2 years old and watch the whole Titanic movie it was her favorite movie ever, she would then act it out calling everybody Jack and herself Rose all the way till she was 4 years old. My son loves the Discovery kids channel. My kids do watch Tv and at the same time are the most active children you will ever see. They all watch Disney Channel, and my son loves super hero shows and movies he has several costumes and acts out superhero movies, in watching tv my kids have great imainations. Ihave 6 children in the home still so it is never silent, I can't do silence either.

Oh yea, SuperWhy! is awesome, huh? :) My boys LOVE AlphaPig and when he sings the alphabet they love it! :) That's awesome! You should really check out Rockabye Baby. It's a company that takes rock music and turns it into classical baby tunes. It's pretty radical. They've made Journey, Aerosmith, Green Day, Led Zeppelin, The Cure, Queens of The Stone Age and a million more... I downloaded all their stuff and it was totally worth it. We slip on a one of the CDs in the car and the boys are silent and happy as can be.

I'd love some suggestions too! :)

I also don't like silence. We have the radio on most of the day. We listen to CBC radio and they play indie music, classical and jazz with no commercials. My little guy also loves SuperWhy! He gets so excited when he sees the little characters talking to him. Since he loves music I'd love any suggestions on kids CDs that other people have used and enjoyed.
