Definitely normal. My son dances in his sleep as my mom put it about me when I was a kid. When he wakes up he's not anywhere near the spot or the position we put him in when we put him down! He just started rolling up his little silky blanket and using it as a pillow....our babies are gorwing!!!

My daughter has been doing it for about 2 months now. She is fine because she can roll if she needs to. I think it is normal for your daughter to be doing that.

My daughter slept on her back for the first two weeks after we came home from the hospital. Then she has been on her stomach ever since. She is 10 months old now, and she is just fine.

My son has been doing that for a while. But he's usually on his chest with his butt up in the air lol. But yeah it's normal. Some have told me its better for them to be on their tummy.

Oliver has slept on his belly since he was 3 weeks old (the same time he started sleeping 8 hour stretches). we started him on his back, but he would roll over to sleep. now he moves around so much, it's a wonder he gets any rest at all...he rolls back and forth, but sleeps mostly on his belly.

Every night!!!! He doesn't sleep on his back much at all, usually on his side or tummy. At this age, there's nothing to worry about. If they can get onto their tummy, they can move off it if they need to. :-)

Alex has been doing that since 4 months, and our pediatrician said that as soon as he could roll to his tummy, that's where he'd always end up, so it was fine to put him on his tummy. We stopped laying him down on his back and just start him on his belly. He's fine--although he did seem to forget how to roll to his tummy for awhile since we weren't making him do it himself, so I will put any future children down on their backs and make them roll themselves over!

I always lay my 9 month old son on his back. When i check on him in the mid nite he is on his tummy. I don't worry just as long as they are on face down also mine sleeps longer on his tummy.

Yep totally normal!!! Once a baby can roll over during awake time, they will sometimes do it in their sleep! Also, like some of the other posts, once a baby has more control and can move on their own they will move if they can't breathe right!

My 10 month old has been doing it every night since about 8 1/2-9 months or so. He sleeps soooo soundly and peacefully when he is on his belly. I put his down on his back once he is asleep, and he shifts himself around immediately.

My son has been sleeping on his belly since about 3 months (once he was able to move his head around easily). We have an Angel Care monitor which monitors pressure, heart beat, and if they stop breathing within 20 seconds. It has put us at ease and I don't worry when he goes to bed.

Dont worry my son goes down on his back or side and winds up rotating around his crib and onto his stomach. I figure if thats how he's comfortable i'm going to leave him alone (we havent gotten the whole sleeping through the night thing down yet).

My son has always slept on his back until recently. He as started to roll over and sleep on his belly. I think it's fine since he can roll back the other way, push himself up and move things out of his face if he needs too.

perfectly fine and normal, she knows where and how she is comfortable and now she has the ability to move around so dont worry. my son, 9.5 months, has been sleeping on his stomach since he was about 6.5 months old. we lay him on his back and he instantly rolls over to his stomach, sticks his butt in the air and goes to sleep.

My little girl does it too and i still get worried, it often wakes her and she cries if she has only been asleep a few hours but i generally flip her back over and it doesn't wake her, at least i have peace of mind then.

My daughters actually done this since she was born. our pediatrician said if she could roll on her own, which she could do to both sides (from bellyto back, and from back to belly) perfectly by 1week old, not to worry about it too much, just to make sure that her face has nothing near it that might cause issues.
when she does go on her belly, she always had her head turned sideways on her own, so she was fine. now at 9 months, she still likes to sleep liek that. she's been mroe of a side sleep than a belly sleeper, but sometimes ends up on her belly after a few hours of sleep.
i actualyl find if i want her to sleep better, when she's awake and i'm tryingto get her to sleep, not just laying her down already asleep, that if i put her down on her side, she falls asleep fairly fast, And sleeps better. if she goes on her back, she doesn't fall asleep as fast, and wakes up more often.
anyways, my point is- don't worry about it, it's completely normal. if they are rolling on their own, let them roll :)

If your child can roll then there are no problems with it at all. The only reason they tell you not to put an infant on their bellies is due to the fact that they have extremely weak neck muscles and could end up face down and suffocate. You have nothing to worry about. Once a child can roll there isn't much you can do about how they want to sleep. Both of mine are (and almost always have been) belly sleepers!

My daughter has been doing this since she was a little I've 7 months. I've read a lot of places and talked to my DR who said that if she is putting herself on her stomach on her own an is comfortable then that is how she is ready to sleep and not to worry.

I don't think there is anything to be worried about provided your baby is rolling back and forth on her own. Our little boy has been doing this for a little while now and ends up in some crazy positions in his cot.

My son is 9 months and has been rolling over every night since 6 months. My doctor said that if they do it on their own, then it is alright. After the first few months the only reason they dont want them on their backs is so they dont suffocate, but when they roll over on their own, they are ok to move away from being suffocated.

Our daughter is 9 months too,and is all over her crib!! I put her down for her nap on her side and when I check in on her later she's on her belly w/her butt in the air,or she's flat on her belly or she curled up in a corner of her crib w/her back to the bumpers! She's been doing this for months now. She's a wiggler!! Just like when I was preggers!!

I think it's totally normal & OK. I always start my son who is 9 1/2 months on his back. When I check on him before I head to bed he is already moved to his side ... then in the morning he will be on his stomach, completely facing the otherway, sideways, head at the top of the crib, or wherever!! Kind of makes me laugh actually. ;-) I'm comfortable because he is rolling around and scooting and I know that he is strong enough to move if he got into the wrong position.

Definitely nothing you should worry about. Once your baby is able to roll over this is usually what they will do and there is no need to move them. My doctor said that if they have enough neck strength to roll/lift their head up, they will be able to move their head if it is face down or if if they are having trouble breathing. So no worries!
If you still have a bumper on you should take that off though, same with blankets, stuffed animals, etc.

I always put Desi down on his back, but most of the time he flips almost immediately to his stomach. I think mostly to avoid the light. He rolls back and forth during the night and settles in different positions. It's nothing to worry about at this age since they can easily maneuver their heads.

Abbi has been pushing herself over since she could wiggle. She would wiggle till she got to the side of the bassinet and then just keep going till she flipped over. So at about 2 months old I had to buy wedges to keep her from flipping over. (I think is partially b/c she and her dad napped in the recliner with her on his stomach...) At about 4 months bbi could roll over on her own. I talked to the dr and she said that as long as she could roll on her own then she wasf ine. LIke Tracy's children she usually ends up curled in a ball with her butt sticking up in the air (I gotta admit it's adorable!)
In my opinion I think it's just important to keep from putting too much stuff in the crib with her. Abbi's blanket comes out everynight and she sleeps in a footie jammie for warmth.
best of wishes

by 9 mos children can move around pretty easy - it's recommended that they still have a firmer mattress - but they are able to roll now so no matter what position you put them to bed in they will probably change positions many times - mine usually ends up on all 4's with his butt up in the air - how on earth that is comfortable is beyond me

as long as they are rolling to their tummies on their own, it's fine. once they can do that, they can clear their faces so they always can make sure that they are able to breathe. so- no worries! (my daughter started doing this at about 8 months old, and i did speak to her pediatrician about it)...
