Hello mommies,
First birthdays should be very simple affair, as your child is too young to enjoy the festivity. Therefore, always choose a simple theme that your child will be able to correlate. Some popular first birthday themes that you can consider are Barnyard and Jungle safari. Kids love animals and therefore, your one year old would love watching the animal shaped balloons, pictures, cake, etc. that you would be having at your party. You can even consider Minnie or Mickey theme party, balloon theme party, a color theme party, rainbow party, polka dot party, and much more. The whole idea is that choose a theme that your child can enjoy. After all it’s his birthday and you must take care of his requirements. Have a small and short party. Do not strain yourself or your child for this and make sure your child enjoys throughout the celebrations. Here are some helpful links on first birthday ideas that I have found for you all. Well here in Hawaii 1st bdays are a big deal. So I am throwing a big party at a local hall. It's going to be a ladybug theme. I made all the invos and rsvp cards. Also i have hired some entertainment who is on the local tv station. We are expecting a little over 200 guests. I know she's not going to remember it but it's a Hawaiian tradition. Plus she'll have all the pix to look at.

We're doing a Lady Bug theme! Her nickname is Bugs, so it seemed appropriate! We're also doing a BBQ. Just for close family.It should be fun! I'm excited to see what she does with her Cake (which I'm going to attempt making it look like a lady bug!)!

Our invite's say "Look who's Cute as a Bug at age 1!" Friends and family are wearing bug antenna's, eating ladybug cupcakes and fluttering around with butterfly wings. Too cute!

My friends daughter just had a yo gabba gabba party for her third birthday! Her dad dressed up as DJ Lance or whatever his name is lol. Then all the kids danced around for awhile. It was a lot of fun!

Hey Staum...I am having a farm animals theme as well...my daughter is turning one on 1st August and she loves her sheep..its always a baba here and a baba there...I intend to have a little sheep cake as well! I think she will have fun...and lots of good food too...

Pirate theme sounds like fun!!! I have come down to 2 ideas just not to sure what one exactly I want. I have pooh or jungle animals which I seem to find more pooh things than jungle animals but as time gets there I will decide more!!!! I am just in awe that my son is turning 1 can't believe it is sooo close!!!!!

I think it is a wonderful idea I am doing winnie the pooh's 1st,we are cooking out as well.and like Abbey said we are only having ours for about 2 hours b/c I know my lil wont make it much longer than that.good luck i hope it turns out just how u want it to.

Hey Allison two and three year olds will definitely be content with a pool! Just fill it up with cups and buckets. My older son and niece will play in our pool for hours and my one year old only lasts about am hour lol

That is such a cute idea! The eye patches and the chocolate coins. We are going to do a Winnie the Pooh themed party, as our daughter is obsessed with Tigger. I'm not really sure what we will do aside from having decorations, grilling, maybe tiny cupcakes, and a kiddie pool. I'm also not sure how many older kids will be there, and if I should plan something out for them. Do you think 2 and 3 yr olds will be just as content in a kiddie pool/sprinklers as 1 yr olds?

we're having a small baby-centric party. we hired Mother Goose to come and tell nursery rhymes and so silly dance moves for the toddlers (the babies can sit in their parent's lap and follow along). Our theme is teddy bears. we are putting them up everywhere as decorations. and giving teddy bears as party favors

We are going to have a backyard barbecue party with hot dogs and hamburgers for the kids, plus cake and ice cream. It will be an all-sports theme; it started out as White Sox because his Dad is a big fan and I found all this Sox stuff at the Factory Card Outlet for 75 cents (bat and balls, yo-yo's, baseballs, temporary tattoos, baseball cards, notepads, invitations, cups, and even a hooded towel). So I bought two of everything to give as gifts to the kids. Then when I went back I found a football birthday banner, some basketball whistles, basketball decorations, and soccer plates, so it turned into all sports. Now I just have to figure out how to entertain the little ones:)

We are having mickey mouse clubhouse theme party at a log cabin nearby park. I have been watching youtube how to make balloon decors-arc, topiary and columns for a cheap but outstanding decors(mostly air-filled balloons). My husband made a trip in Asia, he already bought all the mickey mouse stuffing for loot bags, way cheaper. For the cake, i will make a cupcake tower with icings of the same color motiff-red,blue & yellow. On top of it will be the candle/smash cake for my li'l one decorated like the clubhouse. Oh btw, my baby's bday is Aug.7. I am so excited!

Marta- my boys birthdays are 1 week apart (they'll be 4yrs & 1yr) so I feel your pain. I didn't want my older one to feel like his baby brother is stealing his party, so I asked him if we could have one big huge party for him and his brother- he loved the idea.
We're having a Thomas & Friends party! He has helped me decide about the cake- 2 cakes seperated by a blue fish (gummy) filled jello river and a bridge spanning from one cake to the other. The 1yr old will have the Thomas the #1 Engine cake and the 4yr old will have the Gordon the #4 Engine cake. The party is more for the 4yr old really, but fingers crossed I'll be setting a precedent for birthdays to come :)

Much to my dismay, I am doing the Elmo theme. I don't love Elmo but my son and I watch Sesame Street every day and he LOVES when Elmo comes on. So many people I know have these huge and elaborate birthdays for 1 year olds and I think it's crazy!

i am doing a car theam for my son. hes going to be one aug 8. we are having 2 small parteys so we dont have to many ppl @ onse. his invitashes have a pic from each month on it. i made them. not sure what i am doing for thanck yuos yet. might use a party pic with him diging into the cake for it. his cakes are going to be a car shaped with his name righten on them & 1. the other cakes are going to be in a figer 8 with cars on the top. we are going to do a cook out outside. dont have any other kids coming so dont have to worry about games for them. if anyone easle has any ideas i am open to hereing them on his theam. i am new @ throwning parties. i never had a party when i was growing up so i have no clue what to do.

Im planning a Rubber Ducky party for my son. It is his favorite toy and we are having a pool party at my in laws. We have two large rubber ducks and a few small ones to float in the pool and doing bbq as well as most of these. The kids will make their own rubber duck visor they can wear in to sun. Not everything is planned yet, but i think it will be fun.

since my daughters birthday is on a Sunday we're having a pot luck party after church. my husbend and I are of course bringing the cake which will be "all about my daughter". I'm going to make little candy clay figures of all her faveorate things to decorate her cake.

We are having a Barnyard Bash, my daughter is turning one and my son is turning two. So we hired a traveling petting zoo and we are using hay as seats. Grilling out and having pool and swingset for the kids to play with. Should be lots of fun!!!

We are going to Rollandia Magic Castle, which is a children's place with softplay,miniture golf, and arcade games. It's similar to Chuckee Cheeses', only not as nerve wrecking...lol. My daughter's theme is going to be in Princesses.

We are going to celebrate on a small scale. We are inviting family and a few close friends with young children for a BBQ and cake. Our little one has no idea that she will be turning one soon, so we'll wait until she gets older for the grand fiestas.

I am so glad to see this, I was really at a loss as to what to do for my sons party. Unfortunily I dont have much of a choice as I just found out that my sons grandma booked a holiday for her and his uncle aunt and cusians and they will not even be here for his birthday. I am currently living in England and all of my familys in the states. So he has no family that can attend his !st party and that really makes me sad. I did decide to make some Icecream Cone Cupcakes though and give it a nice Summer feel to his party >^^<

i'm not sure if i'm even having a party for my lil girl... everybody is leaving and i dont have much friends and the friends that i do have are going off to uni.. so, so far its cake and ice cream (both of which shes had b4)

O my son isn't eating any solid solid food yet either, he just eats baby food. He'll gag everytime I try to give him cereal or something, so I'm interested to see how he'll do with a cake. But my older son didn't eat cake at his first birthday. He mushed up some frosting but didn't even attempt to put it in his mouth and he had been eating all sorts of solid foods, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Besides there still another month he might start between now and then.

My daughter loves pandas, so we're having a panda party. We're encouraging guests to wear black and white. A friend of ours is making panda cupcakes and I'm making "bamboo" favor holders (toilet paper tubes covered in green tissue paper) filled with bubbles and such. We'll probably watch Kung Fu Panda, too. We're serving cold salads and "sweet sushi" (Rice Krispy treats rolled up with gummies). My husband's band will probably jam acoustically for a bit. We're not excited, or anything. ;)
