babies swollow the fluid around it "the waters" all the time through pregnancy so if they said not to worry then dont they may just be double checking ok but yes my baby a few weeks ago at the same scan had fluid in its stmoach and kidneys but she said thats good means its working

I wasn't told the exact same thing, but we also just had our 20 week scan and were told that our baby's renal pelvis (the funnel that drains the urine from the kidneys to the bladder) was dilated. Meaning, the urine wasn't draining fast enough so this little "funnel" part was expanding to hold the urine. It should be less than 5mm in size but our little girl's are right at 5mm. They also told me they think she's going to be just fine but want to check in 8 weeks.

We have all this technology and these doctors can see SO much. Sometimes, I wonder if all of this is normal development and no reason for concern, yet they tell us about it anyway because it could potentially be a problem (or so they don't get sued down the road). I mean, c'mon! They weigh like 10 ounces right now! They have a lot of growing to do!!!! If they told you things are within the normal range, just trust them and look at your ultrasound in 4 weeks as just another peek in at your little one! :) Try not to stress - your little one can sense that. And, if you have more questions and what if's, call your doctor and ask more questions - that's why they are there. I think they don't like to give us all the information, so it's up to us to start asking questions. Good luck and keep me posted!!
