Just wondering how long babies the same age as my son nap during the day? My son naps for exactly 30 minutes.. thats it. Usually between 10:30 and 11, if we are in the car more than usual he will sometimes sleep a little bit longer. Anyone else out there have short nappers?

My son is 14 months. He usually takes two naps each day of anywhere from an hour to two hours each. One usually begins from 9 to 10 a.m. and the other one usually starts in the mid-afternoon (2 p.m. to 3 p.m.).

My 14 mos old is showing signs of losing the morning nap. When he skips, he takes a 1 1/2 to 2 hr nap after lunch about 1pm. If he needs a morning nap it's short no longer than 45 min, then his afternoon nap is shorter. He goes to bed around 9pm and wakes between 6:30-7:00.

my 2 little ones, ages almost 3 and almost 1 and a half. nyomi(almost 3) goes to bed at 8 or 830 and sleeps til 8 am. then goes down for a nap at noon, and my lil man, nathaniel(almost 1 and a half) goes to bed at 8 or 830 and sleeps til 8, with waking up 2 to 3 times a night, and then goes down for a nap at noon. and for their nap they both sleep about 1 and a half hours to 3 hours, depending on whats going on.

My 14month old sleeps from 9:30-10:30am (i usually wake him after an hr) then he goes back down at around 2pm for 1.5hrs. This can vary though, sometimes he has one big sleep after lunch (2.5-3hrs) or sleeps 2hrs in morning and 1hr in afternoon, it depends on what we're doing that day & what he needs. if we're out he'll have an hr in the car or in the pram.

My son is 14 mos and has always been a great sleeper. He goes to bed around 8:00pm, sleeps until 6:30AM. For the most part, he's always had 2 long naps; one at about 9:30 until 11:30 or 12:00pm, then again from about 2:30 pm to 4:00pm. He's recently been shortening those nap times and I think he's about ready to go to one longer nap in the afternoon, but he's still so tired mid morning that I'm not ready to cut it out completely. I've read that the longer, better naps they take during the day, the better sleepers they are at night. It seems to ring true for my little guy. I would think even if he's not sleeping, but just resting some, it's better than nothing so you can get some chores done or just have Mommy time. Good luck!

My son is pretty much the exact same as Kimberley Pearson's... he wakes around 8:00 during the week, down for a nap around 10:00, up around 11:30-12:00 and back down around 2-3 and up around 4-5 and goes to bed at 9p.m. unless we are out and about (hockey games he usually goes to bed at 10:00)

My first daughter slept for 2-3 hours in afternoon managed to get lots done, the 2nd one... not so much, only 45 mins-1 hour in the afternoon, even in the car she won't sleep longer than that, but she goes to bed at 7pm and wakes up at 8am... I really wouldn't stress about brain development or anything from the books that can make you neurotic LOL, if you count the sleep at night with the naps they are probably getting enough, my 2nd is really good natured and smart, so its not been affecting her in any way! : )

my little one usually wakes up, eats and plays for about an hour and then is ready for a little nap, just shy of an hour, then she usually needs quiet time/nap in the afternoon about 3:00 ish, if she doesn't get that then she goes to sleep too early and wakes up in the middle of the night wanting to play. I don't know how long she actually sleeps but she will play quietly for a while,. sleep a while and i usually ready to get up/out by the time dinner is on the table.

My son gets up at 630am and then naps from 830-930am and then naps 1230pm-230pm. We put him down anywhere from 730pm-830pm. I wanted to get rid of the morning nap and increase the afternoon nap but he needs it or we can't make it to lunch. My daughter got rid of he morning nap at 1.

Mine used to be a short napper (45 mins only), but we worked really hard on it (The No Cry Sleep Solution by Elizabeth Pantley was a brilliant help) and now he sleeps between 1.5 and 3 hours in the morning and the same in the afternoon.

My 14 month old has always been a good sleeper since the day she was born. she doesn't wake up until 12 or 12:30 in the afternoon and then she takes a nap usually around 3 and sleeps until 4:30 or 5. Then she goes to sleep around 11 ish pm and knocks out for the night until 12 noon the next day!!!!!! But shes aleays been that way literally since the day she was born. I have no problem with it for now since I like goign to bed late anyways. But I know once she starts pre scholl she can't stay that way forever. But I don't think I'll have a problem. Who knows, it might be easy or it might be hard but I'm up for the challenge, I love being a mom.

Wow, my daughter is a really good napper. She wakes between 6-6:30. She takes a morning nap at 9:00 and sleeps for about 2 hours. She also takes an afternoon nap at about 1:30/2:00 for about 2 hours. She goes to bed at 7:00 and sleeps through the night.

Wow that is a lot of variation! I have twins that are 14 months. They take a morning nap (1 1/2 to 2 hours) from 9 or 9:30 to 11am and then a second one from 2 to 4 pm. Lately they are starting to drop the morning nap though and then we put them down earlier for the afternoon nap. Good sleep routines are so important not just for having happy kids & moms but also for brain growth and development!

Wow that is a light napper. My son naps for about 3 - 3 1/2hours a day, over 2 naps. Sometimes he only has a rest in the afternoon but i find its important for him to be in his cot for the rest or he gets cranky.

My son usually wakes around 7:30am, takes a nap around 9:30/10:00 until 11/11:30, and then another nap in the afternoon around 2:30 pm until about 4 pm. He goes to bed around 8:30ish.
I just find consistency is definitely the key!
