My doctor said babies should drink no more than half their weight in ounces... you might consider adding just a tsp of rice cereal to make it heavier and keep him satisfied for longer without stretching his stomach more. They say to start it at 4-6 months but i started my girl at 2 and a half months because of reflux so i really think it depends on the baby's needs. Since he's spaced out to every 4 hours, 6 ounces is probably about right but him being so young, i doubt his little belly could hold much more liquid at once.

I have to say is feed your baby if he is hungry at least thats what my doctor told me. I wouldnt worry about it. My daughter just turned 3months today and she has been drinking 8oz since she was a month old. I would just give him an ounce more everyday and see where he feels comfortable at, if you notice he is spiting up a lot when burping than he might be full. I dont like it but at times I have to use the binky because my daughter just has the sucking sensation or something. Hope this helps you out.

WOW my daughter is 3 months as of nov 5 and she was 10lbs 8ozs when she was born she left the hospital drinking 4ozs every 3-4 hours now she drinks 8ozs every 4-6 hours and before bedtime she drinks 4 ozs of formula and 2ozs of cereal and sleeps all night she goes to bed at 930 and wakes up at 7 am and weighs 14lbs 6ozs so babies do know when they are full and will not drink more than they want. good luck on your little one

wow... mine just turned three months 2 days ago and he just barely got to 5oz every 3.5-4 hrs... but i think its normal that your son is drinking more... every baby is different... especially since... i mean... a 12 pound two month old will of course eat more than a 9 or 10 pound two month old etc etc etc... if he is hungry, feed him :) he knows what he needs... my son has his days where he wants 6-8oz here or there... they growing and changing... they need fuel :)

My son is almost 10 weeks now and he was doing the same thing, just seemed to be starving! I fed him what he needed, and then he started to only drink 4oz of his 6oz bottles. I dropped him down to 4oz, and he's content with that again, sometimes he'll need a bottle 2 hours after he eats, but it's usually every 4 hours, with a nighttime bottle that is 7 oz so he sleeps well through the night. I think it was a growth spurt with him.

my big guy eats anywhere from 4-5 oz between 2 and 3 hours. He sleeps a little longer at nights but still only eats that much. He tends to bump up about .5oz every 2 weeks or so. He now weighs 14lbs 10 oz and is 9 weeks!

Hi, at this age yous till calculate the feeding volume by 150ml x weight in kg x 24 and the divide it by either 8 (for 3 hourly feeds) or by 6 (for 4 hour feeds)- sorry not sure what's that in oz :(

My son who is 3 months next week, drinks 51/2 ounces every 3-3 1/2 hrs during the day. then at night, this past week was still fussing, after his eating an hour later, so we have been giving him another 2 ounces, then he goes to sleep, so looks like at night he is now up to about 7 1/2 ounces! He is a big boy, and likes to eat! :) Everyone is different though, so don't worry if it seems he is eating a lot, the nurse told us, that, they won't over eat at this age.. they will stop when they are full:) Wish you all the best! :)

My girl is at 6-8 oz every 3-4 hours during the day. From about 4 till she goes to sleep I breastfeed but I don't think she is getting enough because she'll need 20 minutes of feeding every hour or two. I may just exclusively formula feed. She seems happier on formula! My poor boobs :P

my baby is almost 3 months he eats 4 oz every 3 to 4 hours. my pediatrician told me that a baby is suppossed to eat 2 oz plus an ounces for each month they are so as long as a 2 month old eats at least 4 oz (2 oz plus the 2 oz for his age) 6 to 8 times a day then they are fine cuz i asked the same thing i didnt think he was eating enough. good luck.
