How often are you nursing your 11th month old?

I still nurse my son anywhere from 4-6 times a day. At least two of those times though is to get him to sleep so he really doesn't eat very much. Just wondering how often your other Moms are still nursing.

My guy is still nursing about 6-7 times during the day, but only for about 10-15 min. at a time. He sometimes gets up once a night to nurse a little, as well. He is a good table eater, too, so I guess I'm a little surprised that he hasn't slowed down too much yet, but that's OK. He's my 4th and my last, so I am cherishing this precious time as long as I can!

she still gets MOST of her nutrition through breastmilk, sooo 8-10 times in a 24 hour period. and that is nursing a good 20-30 minutes:D

I was feeding my daughter between 6-8 times a day including through the night. Although Mia was starting to wake up between 3 and 5 times a night just for a comfort feed- it was driving me insane!! I weaned her cold turkey about 1 month ago (she has about 3 large sippy cups of cows milk a day- equivalent to about 5 bottles) and has been sleeping through since. It was quite obvious that my milk supply was drying up and if it was any other way I would still be feeding her myself. You are lucky you can still feed your little boy so I would not be worried about how many times a day he is feeding as long as Mum and Bub are happy and content.

My son has 8 teeth with molars on the way. I nurse him in the morning as he wakes up, then at night before bed. I have started giving him milk in a bottle in the mid-morning and one at night, and he is doing fine. He started waking up again at night, probably with the teething pain. But he will go back to sleeping nights again...

5-7 times/day. She usually sleeps through the night, but in the past week has been waking (had a cold and now is cutting a tooth) and so she gets an extra nursing then. I almost always nurse in her room in our big cozy nursing chair, otherwise she is distracted after a couple minutes.

There is an immunological milestone at 2 years and so I intend to nurse to that point. It really irritates me when others (even my own mom) say "so, you're almost done nursing, right?)!

At 8 months I started table food and decreased the number of breast feedings my son got. By nine months I wa down to four feedings in 24 hours and since then I have decreased by one feeding every month. He has only been eating once a day for the last three weeks and is doing really well. When I decided about two months ago that I was done feeding him in the middle of the night I would offer him water when he woke up. Sometimes he'd take it and other times he'd get mad and put himself back to sleep. Decreasing by one feeding each month was a really easy, systematic way to wean him. We only have one week left before he is completely done. Bittersweet

WOW, i wish my son would have nursed longer, he stopped nursing at 2 months :( But he's been eating baby food since 4 months and the food i eat since 6-7 months and has 5 teeth already with 4 teeth coming in right now. So, its pretty neat to see that there is so many still nursing :)

I nurse my son 5-6 times a day. Once in the morning, then before both of his naps, once in the late afternoon, before bed, and he starting waking up again, so he feeds once during the night.

We still nurse a bunch too. My ped. suggested adding in more protein because she's walking now and has lost 2 lbs! We co-sleep so she nurses through the night as well. I am not sure how many times. Maybe 3 or 4.

My twins nurse 2-3 times a day. Once in the AM at about 7:30, once in the late morning about 11:30 and once the afternoon - about 4. And the sleep for 12+ hours a night without waking up for a change or to eat.

My son has 4 teeth and more coming and recently started the biting thing...ouch...When I am at home all day he nurses probably 6-7 times, but he doesnt nurse for long. When he goes to daycare I will nurse him twice in the morning, he will have 1-2 4ounce bottles at daycare then another 2 good nursings before bed. He usually wakes up a few times in the evening to nurse. Two of those feel like hunger ones and the others are more comfort. I would like to switch him to whole milk during the day and just nursing in the morning and evening pretty soon so I dont have to pump at work so much.

"They" may say that after 6 months babies shouldn't have to need to nurse at night, but "they" are usually wrong. ;) It's not abnormal for a baby to truly still need to nurse, whether for physical or emotional reasons. Nothing magical happens in their bodies between 5 months 29 days and 6 months you know? Every baby is different.. some need to nurse at night and some don't.

Gosh I am surprised to hear all of your 11mth olds are still waking in the night & being feed when they wake at night too?! My boy has been sleeping from 7pm-7am since he was about 5mths old. I followed a specific routine. First few nights he woke I settled him without feeding and it wasn't long before he stopped waking. They say from 6mths there is no physical need to be fed and that night fees can also halm their teeth. He is having 3 milk feeds a day - I still feed him Morning & evening and he has a bottle at daycare at 3pm which am hoping to drop soon. I know what you mean about your express machine I was well ready to throw mine away. I stopped expressing about 4 weeks ago. He will be 1 on 10 August & he was 5 weeks early. Hope this helped.

I'll feed when she wakes up, then in the afternoon, and usually in the evening, and sometimes before bed. Sometimes in the night, but she's getting better at sleeping through the night.
So I'd say in 24 hrs, it's about 4-6 times.
I'm wanting to start getting her on cows milk. Her birthday is on the 12th! Maybe I'll start today!

Now that I'm home with my son, he nurses about 5-6x's per day. (including 2 at night). He doesn't eat very much baby food/table food now that I'm home with him (he prefers nursing over any other food.) Though like you Kate, it's sometimes just to help him get to sleep.

In the morning when he wakes up before his breakfast. Then he nurses alittle again before his nap. Then right before he goes to bed at night. And sometimes he will wake up for a snack in the middle of the night.

Once in the morning before I head to work. Depending on my schedule, sometimes I come home and nurse him at lunch. If not, the nanny gives him pumped milk with his lunch. Once about 4:30 when I get home and then before bedtime. On the weekends, he usually gets a little more mommy time. So, 3 times most days, 4-5 times on the weekends. I cut out middle of the night feedings at least 2 months ago. If he wakes up, he usually puts himself back to sleep in a matter of minutes. He turns 1 on Aug 11. I have enough frozen milk to get through till his bday, so I have stopped pumping at work (yippie!!!!). Just today I started adding about 1 oz of whole milk to his sippy cup with the frozen milk. Hope that helps.

That sounds about how much it is for us too. Though I've never actually sat down and counted. Once or twice during the night as well.
