I was wondering how often you should bath an infant, just not sure if you should everyday or every other day or something different.

my baby gets in the bath every night with me only washer hair every other day tho x

I think it depends on how "dirty" they get. My Kelsie is a spitter so her clothes are constantly wet it seems and sometimes we use a baby wipe on her neck, but I have been bathing her 2-3x a week, more if needed but it has mostly been 2x per week.

I used to bath every 4 days, then everyday and now it is when I can, I do try to every day cuz it does help her sleep way better and winds her down. Though I do use Johnsons because I have had incidents where I have used another mild baby soap and it got into her eye and crusted over. But if I bath here everday, I scrub her down with a wash cloth and then maybe use soap every other day. I alternate washing her hair with soap as well. But i always make sure i have put moisturizer on her. I use my sensitive stuff or just the baby stuff.

I think bathing every day with even baby soap is too harsh. However, I do like to lay her in a tub of warm water, and wipe her down with a lavender oil I created and wash cloth. That way she is clean without drying her out, and the lavender and warm water soothe her and help establish the routine she needs. Soap - and that is one I made too so there are no synthetics - is every 2 to 3 days. But for the record, I don't think you can go wrong. =) Hope it helps!

I try to bath Annie every night about 6ish, getting her ready for bed, usually it is every other day though. I dont use any products on her skin except Olive Oil which we use for the cooking!!! I was recommended this my by midwife as it is completely natural and will not harm or dry out my babies skin. Since starting to use this on Annie I read an Interview by Sophia Loren who said that one of the reasons she has such amazing skin at 70 is that she has regular olive oil baths........I guess the proof is there!! :0)

Every night at 6:15.....I am really becoming a strong believer in routines :) Sometimes we are out and he doesn't get a bath that day...which is no problem.

Depends... if she spits up during the day or sweats in her winter coat etc, I bath her every night.. but there are times we are not home in time for a bath so she gets it the next morning or we skip it all together.

Babies arent like us,, they dont get really dirty... as long as their bums are cleaned properly in the diaper I say every other day is fine!

I bathe Kristopher 3x a week. He has excema pretty bad on his face, arms, chest and legs, and we have to treat that twice a day, and before I treat them, I rub him down with a warm wash cloth. Dr. said no more that a bath every other day cause of his sensitive skin.

Quoting Kathy:

Mika is my 4th child in 5 years, so I really bathe her when I can. She spits up, so I'm always cleaning her face, neck and hair with a damp cloth anyway. Sometimes I just take her in the shower with me and have my hubby dry her off once her hair is done.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who does this! Celeste loves the shower and has since around 12 weeks. She has a shower at least once a week and a bath about twice a week - depending on our schedule that week and how messy she's gotten.

Asher and I have a bath every night togeather but no soap...just a soak! Fun to see him kicking around and standing up in the tub, gets alot of skin to skin bonding and is nice and warm right before bed.
He gets a soap up every 3-4 days.

I have 2 kids, one is 8, one is 15 weeks, i bathed them both every other day unless needed doing everyday for any reason. I was told by a health visitor not to bath them every day as it wasnt great for their skin. I had eczema as a child though and my 8 year old had it for a few months when he was under 1....that might have been why I was advised of this.

My 15 week old absolutley loves it in the bath, he sleeps right through and has done since 6 weeks old bathed or not.

I am by far not saying anyone is wrong for bathing baby everyday. I have just always heard that is a big no no. I have a almost 5 year old and 4 month old and have always done is at least every other. I was even told by the hospital when I brought my 4 month old to do it everyday. I think the best thing is to ask your doctor! Maybe everyday isn't so bad if your doc says it is ok! :)

for my daughter,i always bathe her every morning everyday to prevent her from getting sick.but don't do it in the night or else your baby will have flu.just do it quickly, just enough for her to feel fresh and the heat from her body will go.

I bathe my 4 month old at least once every three or four days, but more if she needs it. My two year old on the other hand... Sometimes every night and sometimes every few nights. Depends on how tired we are or how messy he makes himself ; )

I have bathed our baby every evening between 6 & 7pm since she was 2 months old. It is our night time routine starter. Following every bath she eats and then we read books together. Then she goes down to bed, always by 730pm.

I also use the bath as a calming strategy. On the rare occasion that she has a crying spell, I'll run a warm bath for her and get her straight in. It always resets her. By the end of the bath she's forgotten what she had been crying about.

it depends on the age of the infant. if the child is at least 3 months old you can bathe them every night. but if you bathe them every night only use soap on them every 2 - 3 nights so that their skin doesn't dry out

I bathe Abbi every couple of days. Normally when I have time to take a bath too. If I just showered that morning then I wipe down her hands, feet n toes, and her neck and face. She isn't a big fan of the baby tub but LOVES to be in the tub with me...

She get lotioned every other day or so and always after a bath. I absolutely love cuddling up with her right after she's had a bath and been lotioned. Not that I need a reason to cuddle up with her!

i bathe my daughter everyday. Though i only wash her every 2-3 days and wash her hair every 3-4. It helps with establishing a good routine. As soon as she hits that warm tub she yawns and gets droopy eyed. The warm water can be slightly drying though so i use a free and clear lotion daily.

I bath him every night. I use a mild baby soap only a little. It helps him get ready for bed and he loves the water. He doesn't have any skin problems or rashes, so unless he develops some, I don't see a problem with it. In fact, I think it helps keep some of the problems at bay because there is no build up of bacteria in his (many) folds.

This is my second child and I bath him every other day sometimes there may even be any extra day on there....I was always told you should never bath them everyday..Their skin needs the oils and it dries their skin out. yes it soothes them for sleeping but is not good for them...I was surprised at how many people posted they bath their baby everyday. maybe it isn't such a bad thing. I don't know! I also use Johnson baby products and baby magic. I guess I am a little confused why the hospital would recommend and give you johnsons if it is bad for your baby. I do perfer baby magic more though because it smells better! If my baby start to get that formula smell under his neck before it is time for a bath I just use a warm wash cloth and wipe him down. I recommend every other day!! Hope this helps! And I give him his bath at night time too!!

i bath my baby everyday sometyms twice a day morning and evening and wen i do she sleeps wel more comfortable. the only thing u need to do is not to use johnson bathing products because they are harsh for baby's skin they damage the skin in long run so i use infacare baby bath ultra mild this product is good and apply reasonable cream on the skin after bathing the baby this works trust me u wil luv it wen ur baby is smeling fresh and for the baby she goes to sleep witout a prob.

I bath bub when I can. Sometimes you are too busy to bath every night.... but it is a good idea if you not bathing bub to wipe them over with a damp warm cloth around the eyes, the neck, under the arms, babies privates, bum and hands.... but a bath is good for bub... i try to bath every second night... but if bub goes to sleep i can't... Bub loves his bath... loves water in general... also a bath will help bub to sleep...

I always read how a bath every night is a good way to encourage sleep and an establish a bedtime routine... I know I don't give him one every night because we're too tired (him or me) or we had a late dinner or errand to run (he goes to sleep between 6-7 most nights so if we need to run somewhere together after work its hard)... I usually give him on every Sunday and 2-3 more during the week...

I've got to say, this is one of the questions I ask myself. I was told once that you shouldn't bath a child to often as it will dry out all their natural oils and give them skin complaints in the future. When I asked my mummy group some bath their babies every other day. At the moment I bath Scarlett twice a week but was thinking of putting it up to three times. Maybe I will wait for others to answer your question and go for somewhere in the middle.
