Jar Food

My son is 8 months now so I've been giving him jar food for a little while now and as you may or may not now, the vegetables for 8 month olds have chunks in it. I expected him to gag at first cause he's not use to it, but it's been awhile and he's still gaggin and he always ends up throwing it up. I even mash it up a bit more but he still does it. Anyone know why and what's the best way I can give him the food without going through this everytime?

Try Applesauce or Pears...something not as chunky maybe..My Daughter will not eat the Meats or anything with meat in it..which I heard is quite common..so maybe try sticking to just the squash, peaches, etc. My daughter likes the Mac' N Cheese too. lol. It could be just the specific food..you probably want to isolate and see if it's that particular food or everything. Does your baby have any teeth yet? If so, Lil Graduates makes awesome snacks that melt in there mouth..also it usually excites them to do it thereself..help that helps. :)

I make my own food for my wee girl too. My wee one likes lots of the recipes from the annabel karmel site and she also suggests to put it in ice cube trays then into freezer bags. Depending what I give Lauren I make it all different consistancies as she will eat veg and potato slightly lumpy but meats need pureed until smooth. I also do what Krista does and make everything in batches then I have enough to last all week.

Maybe he just doesn't like it. I bought some jar food for my son and he hated it. I tasted it and thought, "No wonder!" Have you considered making your own food for him? That way, you can make it the consistency that he likes best, and you know exactly what's going in to it. It sounds hard, but it's really not -- I'm a working mom, so can't make it during the week. But on Sunday, I do up a bunch of vegetables (carrots, parsnip, peas, sweet potato, squash) and some chicken and turkey thighs, and then puree each in the food processor, pop it into ice cube trays, freeze it, and then put it in freezer bags. It only takes a minute in the microwave to thaw and warm up a cube or two.
