Mixing Breast Milk with Formula

I was exclusively breast feeding my 4 month old daughter up until about two weeks ago. I was concerned because she would eat every two hours but only for about 5 minutes, so I decided to start pumping so I'd know how much she was taking in. It was hard to keep up with the pumping, I could only get out 3-4oz at a time and that didn't seem to satisfy her. About a week ago I could only get 2oz out every 3 hours so out of desperation I mixed the breast milk with some formula. Now Pippa (my daughter) drinks 6-7oz (3-4oz breast milk with 3 oz formula) every 4 hours and I've managed to build up a supply of about 12oz of breast milk in the fridge. My question is, should I give her a full bottle of breast milk when I have the chance to or continue to keep supplementing with formula? Also, I've read that most people mix equal amounts of breast milk and formula, is it okay to give her 4 or 5oz breast milk mixed with just 2oz formula?

I did the same since I am working 8 to 5, but I prefer not to mix breast milk with formula. I suggest you give her the breast milk first then followed by formula to fulfill her hunger. I also pump my breast milk in the office so my breast can still continue to produce milk, however breast milk is the best for babies..

It's absolutely fine to mix your breast milk with formula in the same bottle. The only reason I wouldn't want to mix them together would be if she didn't finish the bottle, I'd have wasted my breast milk, but my chunky monkey always finishes her bottles!

i was the same but i only managed about 3 weeks of that, but i didnt mix the different milks in the same bottle. i would give her the breast milk all in one while you have the chance and then give her formula the rest of the time but its up to you i would check with your health visitor about mixing the milk in the same bottle before you do so
