New fears/pickiness

Lately my 21 month old son has acquired some new fears and things he's picky about that never bothered him before. Is this common? Have any of you noticed similar things w/ your kids?

For example, Spencer never cared about messy hands, but now he throws a giant fit if he has crumbs on his hands and he wants to take a drink of milk. I have to wipe his hands thoroughly before he'll take a drink. He won't even eat certain foods now if his hands will get dirty.

And suddenly every little thing frightens him. The neighbor mowing his lawn. Those giant blow-up lawn decorations. Santa Claus look-a-likes. Etc.

If anyone could provide some insight, I'd appreciate it!! Thanks.

There is a site that has some info on this I recently recieved an email about toddler fears etc. I will find it and post it for you, they say not to worry unless it is severe, but I cant really remember the details, I'll post soon, I hope it helps

ye. i have taken my son on the bus since birth and only in the past few weeks have i noticed him freaking out when the bus lowers to get the stroller on. it\s weird. i think it's just because they are becoming much more aware
