Pillows and Blankets

My daughter is 10 months and she sleeps with a pillow and a blanket I say as long as they are mobile enough to toss and turn and move around then go for it she prefers it.

I use a blanket in my daughter's crib when it's chilly, because our condo is pretty darn drafty and winter in Michigan is BRUTAL. I had it tucked in around the edges of the crib so that it wouldn't go any higher than armpit level. I might let her start sleeping without it tucked in so she can kick if off if she'd like. She's a tummy sleeper so I refuse to use a pillow, though.

When he started to crawl we put a giant teddy in his pack and play for nap time now he won't sleep unless his head is on that bear. He made his own pillow and his happy about it. Much like how the say 6 months for solids but some kids can start at 4 months pillows and blankets are a when the baby is ready you will know thing. They give you clues sometimes well before when the doctors are cool with it

My son is eight months old n he uses a pillow and a quilt but i have put his pillow under his fitted sheet for his cot! your his mother you know best just trust your instinct

i have a blanket for him. i just make sure to check that he';s ok before going to bed and if i wake up to pee at night. really at this age they are strong enough to move a light blanket off of them

I agree that it depends on how mobile your baby is and how attached they are to a blanket. My daughter is not as mobile as most 8 months old so I don't trust letting her sleep with one yet, plus she doesn't even care if she has one or not!

I don't use pillows or blankets with my 8 month old daughter. I was putting a blanket on her for bed until one morning I woke up and it past the time that my daughter normally wakes up. I went into her room and she was laying there with the blanket wrapped completely around her head. I pulled it off and she was laying there smiling at me. She was fine, but it still scared me, so I decided no more blankets. That was several months ago, but I'm still not ready to give her a blanket yet. I dress her warm and she sleeps through the night.

We use his "lovey" small light blankey and SOMETIMES a thicker baby one, but no pillows, and he has one small stuffed froggie guy that he sometimes snuggles with. We have been doing that for a while now, we have always tucked a small blankey but only up to the chest. Henry is almost 8 months and he also sleeps with me a lot so I know hes capable of tossing around and moving the blankey if he needs to. You gotta remember the boys are almost a year old!!! IDK about pillows but blankeys seem fine, but you know your buddy better than us!

It depends on the baby and how active they are. Chloe sleeps with a blanket and a pillow. She loves the comfort of the pillow. She can also sit and stand up, and move things from her face, so it depnds on the baby's mobility.

Teah sleeps with her blanket & pillow (8mths old). She likes to hold the blanket a.k.a luv up to sleep I gave it to her cause she used to like to pinch my breast to fall asleep so now she squeezes her luv up, also it's a good idea to hv 2 of the "fav blankie" so washing is easy.

Maggie was sleeping on top of a pillow so that I could more easily BF her while we slept (we co-sleep in my bed) - It was a feather pillow, but covered with a blanket. She also had her own blanket but kicked it off most nights and just snuggles into me. She outgrew the pillow she was sleeping on (too long now!) and so she just sleeps next to me right on the mattress. She sleeps on her back, and I sleep with a pillow but she sleeps with her blanket unless she kicks it off.

My baby sleeps with a special blankie his aunt gave him and has recently decided that he prefers to sleep on his belly so I have had a sleepless week bc I just feel uncomfortable with him sleeping like that but like everyone else he seems to be able to move his blankie out of his face if he wants and loves burying his nose in the mattress.

I don't use pillows he doesn't lay on them. But with Blankets I don't have any problems he does keep them on all night anyway

I think you have to base your choice on the child with anything. My son sleeps with his head on his Boppy and has since just a few months old. He has REALLY bad reflux and sleeping like that was the only way to keep him from throwing up in his sleep. I would not use a regular pillow they are to squishy but the boppy works awesome. I let him have his blanket that is small and has a stuffed animal head as well. I have taken his bigger blanket away as he likes to wrap himself up in and it now makes me a little nervous.

My 8month old has always used a blanket and at around 6&1/2 months she had a cold and so we started to use a pillow to elevate her head slightly so that the mucous wouldn't congest her nose and now she won't sleep without one. She is pretty strong though she can roll and sit up so i've never seen her have her face to the pillow but i'm confident she could roll back to her back if she did. It's a fairly flat hypoallergenic pillow.

My daughter also sleeps face down and breathes perfectly fine. She has been doing this for a couple months. If you worry about using a blanket, try the breathable blankets. They are lined to keep babies warm, but have tiny air holes to prevent sufocation! I have one and it takes a lot of worry away!

Jacob (8 months) has had a pillow in his cot for a few months, i first used it when he had a cold to raise his head a bit... and now he doesnt sleep aswell without it there. I have no worries about it. He also has blankets, he has never pulled them over his head, but i use the cellular ones so even if he did there are lots of air holes! just do what you feel is right!

we dont use a pillow but i have been giving her a blanket to sleep with since she didnt like being swaddled anymore. i cant use a sleep bag thing because my daughter gets warm really easy and will kick a lose blanket off herself she also will not sleep without being able to rub a blanket on her face. its what we get i suppose for not wanting to use a binky. :)

I haven't used pillows or blankets since my baby was born. I am just super scared of SIDS. Instead of a blanket I put him in a sleep sack.

My 8 month old has always used blankets but not pillows. He likes to pull the blanket over his face and rubs his cheek with it when he's tired but he doesn't do this while he's sleeping.

My son is almost 8 months and he uses blankets but no pillow. He always falls asleep with the blanket over his face. We always go in and remove it and it never fails he always puts it back. He can move it himself so I usually don't worry too much.

Just as everybody else has said, my daughter sleeps with her blankie. No pillow yet, but she does sleep on her belly.

I don't use pillows but my daughter does sleep with a 100% cotton blanket. I don't have central heating and her room gets really cold. I've tired using the sleep sacks and warm Pj's but she still feels cold. Plus she won't sleep without her blankie. ;)

I haven't used a pillow with Molly yet. I've used a blanket with her since she was born. She never puts it over her face, she has more of a problem of kicking it off or rolling away from it. She sleeps on her side or stomach most of the time, and I don't want her burying her face in a pillow.

i dont use pillows cos people have told me you cant use them until there over a year old but my 8 month old sleeps with her blanket nearly over her face she wont sleep without it like that and theres only one blanket she sleep with so its a nightmare lol espeically when i need to wash it!! she also sleeps nearly face down on the mattress which i hate her doing but thats how she go into a good nights sleep
